Dear OLM families,
We have had a very successful beginning of a school year. We have a lot of fun new things
going on, and we’d like to take the opportunity to share a few of them with you.
We should be starting the IPad Project 2014-2015 soon. We have extended the due date
for the signed contracts to this Friday, August 22nd. Teachers have started the Digital
Awareness Campaign in class, and soon as students have gone over the basics, they will be
signing their own Media License!
Our students have been reading a lot in both English and Portuguese for the Scholastic
Summer Reading Challenge 2014: Reading Under the Stars. But in 2nd through 5th grades
they are still struggling to log their minutes in. Please take the time to help them. Their
user names and passwords are on the front pages of their agendas. If they should find any
difficulties, please ask them to come to my office, and I will do my best to help them.
Our grand total has now grown to ____ minutes! Our
2,000,000 minute goal is well within our reach. Keep
cheering your children to read, Read, READ! Remind them
that if we succeed in reaching our goal, they will be
invited to an ice-cream party! The top 20 schools that
meet their challenge will also be featured in the 2015
Scholastic Book of Records! Help your children track
their progress by using their login.
Check out Tumblebooks, the library or the book fair taking place this week in school. The
beauty of books is that they can take us to new worlds. What will they discover today?

On Saturday, August 30th, OLM will be hosting its Annual BBB – Books Before
Breakfast, and all students who participate are welcome to stay for the American Society
Pancake Breakfast. Prices for the Pancake Breakfast are R$15 Adults and R$5 Children
(6-12). A good book and good food? You can’t do better than that!

Prezadas Famílias OLM,
Tivemos um início de ano escolar muito bem sucedido.
Temos muitas novidades
prazerosas acontecendo e gostaríamos de aproveitar a oportunidade para partilhar algumas
delas com os senhores.
Iniciaremos o Projeto IPad 2014-2015 em breve. Prorrogamos o prazo de
devolução dos contratos assinados para esta sexta-feira, dia 22 de agosto. Os professores
já iniciaram a Campanha de Conscientização Digital em sala de aula. Tão logo os tópicos
básicos tenham sido abordados, cada aluno assinará sua Licença de Mídia!
Nossos alunos têm lido muito, em inglês e em português, para o desafio de leitura,
Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge 2014: Reading Under the Stars.
No entanto, os
alunos do 2º ao 5º ano estão com dificuldades para registrar seus minutos. Pedimos que os
ajudem. Os nomes de usuários e senhas podem ser encontrados na capa da frente das
agendas. Caso eles tenham alguma dificuldade, peçam-lhes que venham ao meu escritório e
eu os ajudarei.
Nosso total de minutos lidos cresceu para
507.375! Nossa meta de 2.000.000 minutos está bem ao
nosso alcance. Continuem a encorajar seus filhos a ler,
ler e LER!
Lembrem-nos de que, se atingirmos nossa
meta, eles serão convidados para a Festa do Sorvete!

dos
recordes

Scholastic, 2015 Scholastic Book of Records! Ajudem
seus filhos a monitorar o progresso utilizando seus logins.

escola. A beleza dos livros está em poder nos transportar para novos mundos. O que eles
irão descobrir hoje? Eles precisam ver o que está guardado nas páginas de um grande livro.
No sábado, dia 30 de agosto, a OLM sediará o evento anual BBB – Books Before
