VACUMED
O VACUMED é um dispositivo inventado e comercializado pela primeira vez na Alemanha, em que associado as
vantagens conhecidas do vácuo, apresenta uma terapêutica inovadora, intermitente que engloba toda a extremidade
do membro afectado.
As vantagens da terapêutica pelo vácuo, são sobejamente conhecidas há longos anos, mas neste dispositivo o facto
de haver uma cadência intermitente associado ao envolvimento de todo o membro, permite que as ações se
ampliem, havendo desde já vários estudos que demonstram a sua eficácia em vários campos nomeadamente na
área da minha especialidade
Genericamente podemos dizer que ele origina um aumento do fluxo capilar arterial melhorando a perfusão capilar a
nível muscular. Ao mesmo tempo aumenta o retorno venoso e linfático funcionando neste ultimo campo por um
mecanismo muito semelhante ao da drenagem linfática.
Assim existem vários trabalhos científicos que demonstram melhoria em múltiplas situações clinicas nomeadamente
do foro arterial onde se verifica uma melhoria da claudicação intermitente com uma acentuada melhoria da qualidade
de vida.
Contudo, é a nível venoso e linfático que este aparelho apresenta maiores vantagens.
Foi demonstrado que em relação á doença venosa crónica sobretudo a pós trombótica em que a Medicina ainda não
tem grandes alternativas terapêuticas, o VACUMED permite a melhoria da sintomatologia, levando nas formas
avançadas, ao evitar o aparecimento de úlceras e mesmo à sua mais rápida cicatrização.
Também nos pós operatórios de patologia venosa o aumento do retorno pelo sistema venoso profundo, associado ao
incremento linfático, leva a uma muito melhor recuperação
Os trabalhos realizados a nível linfático, sobretudo por C Campisi, têm demonstrado uma efetiva melhoria da
circulação linfática nos doentes submetidos a este tipo de tratamento e que apresentam várias formas de linfedema,
melhorando consideravelmente a sua qualidade de vida
Outro aspecto das vantagens o aparelho tem a ver com a redução significativa de edemas de todas as causas
nomeadamente a pós traumática permitindo um retorno mais rápido ao trabalho
Trata-se também de um dispositivo que economicamente tem vantagens, pois para se verificarem melhorias
significativas, bastam dois a três tratamentos semanais e logo nas primeiras semanas obtém-se um benefício muito
acentuado, não acontecendo o mesmo com dispositivos similares já existentes.

Technical expert evidence about the VACUMED
The VACUMED is a medical device invented and initially commercialized in Germany, which
with regard to the known advantages of vacuum, presents an innovative therapy method,
which encompasses the whole extremity affected.
The therapeutic benefits of the vacuum are well known for many years, but the fact having an
intermittent cadence in this device, associating the involvement of the whole limb, allows
expanded actions, which are shown in already existing studies, which proof the efficiency in
several areas, in particular in my expertise.
Generally we can say that the therapy causes an increase of capillary blood flow improving
the capillary perfusion on muscular level. At the same time it increases the venous and
lymphatic back-flow, operating in a mechanism similar to a lymphatic drainage.
Thus there are several scientific studies that demonstrate the improvement in multiple clinical
situations, in particular in the arterial flow, in which a significant improvement of Intermittent
Claudication with a remarkable increase of the quality of life is verified.
However, at venous and lymphatic level, this device presents its major advantages.
It was shown that with regard to chronic venous diseases, especially in post thrombotic, in
which Medicine still does not have any major therapeutic advantages, the VACUMED allows
an improvement of the symptoms, and in leading forms, avoiding the appearance of ulcers
and above that even it´s much quicker healing.
Also post- surgically with venous pathology the augmentation of the reflux in the deep vein
system, associated with an increased lymphatic flow, lead to a much better recovery.
The works realized on lymphatic level by Prof. Dr. C. Campisi have demonstrated an
effective improvement of lymphatic flow on patients undergoing this kind of treatment and
who have shown various kinds of lymphedema, improving notably their quality of life.
Another aspect of the advantages with this device is related to the significant reduction of
edemas from any cause, including post- traumatic causes, allowing a quicker return to work.
It is also a device that has economic advantages, because in order to achieve significant
improvements, only two to three treatments per week are sufficient and just in the first weeks
very remarkable benefits are achieved, which are not known with any other similar device
available.
