Wine shop of the Brotherhood of Carcavelos
Wine is located in Oeiras in the middle of the
Historic Centre, allowing the visitor to
acquire and taste the historic, generous and
rare wine of Carcavelos - “Conde de Oeiras”,
produced in this region.
This wine with international renown and
secular tradition, met its apogee during the
reign of José I (eighteenth century), under
great dynamism of the 1st Count of Oeiras
and Marquis of Pombal - Sebastião José de
Carvalho e Mello. It is a fortified wine, topaz
color with almond aroma, produced in a
demarcated region (VLQPRD) with controlled
designation of origin (DOC), and whose wood
aging takes at least two years.
You will also find in this shop a variety of
cakes and snacks made with this wine by
“Casa Favinha” and sold specially here. As
an example there are the “Fidalgos” (in the
picture), the “Confrades”, the “Carcaveló”,
jams and other products and wines from
different regions of Portugal, which will let
you certainly overcome.
