“O lobo atrás da porta” wins the postproduction award of Cinema do Brasil and Associação do Audiovisual FERNANDO COIMBRA WILL RECEIVE R$ 99,400 (USD 48,000) TO FINALIZE THE FILM PRODUCED BY GULLANE The first edition of Prêmio Finaliza, promoted by Cinema do Brasil, the Brazilian Audiovisual Association, and Cinecolor Digital during the 7th Latin American Film Festival of São Paulo, ended last night and awarded 'O lobo atrás da porta' (‘The wolf behind the door), by Fernando Coimbra, as the winner. The award grants Gullane with R$ 99,400 (USD 48,000) in services by Cinecolor Digital, including color correction, sound editing, pre-mixing, final mixing, DCP, and HDcam SR Copy to finalize the film. ‘Life art’, by Andradina Azevedo and Dida Andrade (Filmes da Lata), was awarded with an special mention. The jury, comprised of Bruno Bettati, Eva Morsch, Keiko Funato, Rosanna Seregni, and Silvia Cruz, justified their choices: “‘O lobo atrás da porta’ was awarded by Prêmio Finaliza for being a mature film that sets the course of a promising career for a filmmaker now starting in feature films”. The honorable mention to ‘Life Art’ was granted in order to recognize “a fresh, enthusiastic, and energetic film that approaches relevant issues in the current scenario of the film industry”. Other competing projects included ‘Amparo’ (FinoTrato Consumação das Imagens), ‘Cores’ (Kinoosfera Filmes), ‘De menor’ (Tangerina Entretenimento), ‘Mão na luva’ (Movimento Carioca), and ‘O Rio nos pertence - operação Sonia Silk’ (Daza Produção Cultural). The seven finalist films were shown in private sessions along the festival to members of the jury and people related to the several areas of the audiovisual production chain. This award was inspired by the editions of Cine en Construcción, promoted in the traditional festivals of Toulouse (France) and San Sebastián (Spain). The 7th Latin American Film Festival of São Paulo was held from July 12th to 19th at Memorial da América Latina, Cinemateca Brasileira, Cinusp Paulo Emílio, and Cinesesc. Created in 2006, this event has the main objective to discuss and raise the awareness on the aesthetic singularity and the production paths of the recent and historic Latin American cinematography. This edition included the exhibition of approximately 100 films, including recent productions unseen in Brazil, as well as classic works of the local cinematography. Cinema do Brasil Cinema do Brasil is a promotion and exporting program of Brazilian films. It has been idealized by the Audiovisual Industries Union of the State of São Paulo (SIAESP) and has as its main partner the Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investments Promotion Agency), which participates in the planning and in the operation of strategies besides offering financial support to the projects. The Program also counts on the support of Ancine (the Brazilian National Film Board) and the Cultural Department of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
