Sessão Especial: Educação em Sensoriamento Remoto (Education in Remote Sensing)

A demanda por dados espaciais, incluindo o sensoriamento remoto, tem crescido drasticamente devido à necessidade de se medir e
conhecer mais detalhadamente o Planeta Terra. A atual sociedade do conhecimento, fruto da evolução tecnológica, requer profissionais
com um novo perfil para atender essas demandas. Nesta Sessão Especial pretende-se apresentar a experiência da Universidade de Aalborg,
com novas metodologias educacionais; a experiência da NASA no treinamento da nova geração de exploradores; as demandas do Brasil e
das Américas bem como seus planos para educação e formação de profissionais face ao desafio da implantação das Infraestruturas de
Dados Espaciais, incluindo o sensoriamento remoto. Espera-se que esta Sessão traga luzes, idéias e caminhos para a concepção de novos
paradigmas para a educação e formação de recursos humanos em sensoriamento remoto, desde o ensino básico até a pós-graduação de
forma a atender as demandas das novas gerações. Ao final, haverá um debate aberto aos participantes.
The need for spatial data, including remotely sensed data, has grown drastically due to the necessity to know our Planet with more detail
than ever. We live in an information society, product of the technological evolution, which requires professionals with a new education
profile to respond to these demands. In this Special Session it is intended to present the experience of the University of Aalborg, with new
educational methodologies; the experience of NASA with the DEVELOP intern program in training the new generation of explorers; the
demands of Brazil and Americas for skilled workers to deal with spatial data as well as its plans for professional education in face of the
Spatial Data Infrastructure implementation challenge, with special regards to remote sensing. It is expected that this Session will shed light
on ideas to foster new paradigms for the education and formation of human resources in remote sensing, from basic education to graduate
levels, thus attaining the demands of the new generations. At the end, there will have an open debate to the participants.
