Brazil – Suppliers Challenges
Pre-Salt: The New Frontier
Pre- Salt Main Challenges

Water Depth about 2,200 m (risers and thermal insulated flowlines
qualifications, moorings etc.)

Well depth (~ 5,000-7,000 m)

Salt layers with thickness up to 2,000 m

CO2 resistance (~ 8 - 18%)

H2S resistance (~ 200 ppm)

High pressure (initial ~ 580 kgf/cm2)

Secondary recovery

Paraffin deposition, hydrate control and scaling control

300 km distance to shore (long and large diameter gas pipelines)

Scenario for new technologies offshore: LNG, CNG, GTL, GTW etc.

Scenario for riser towers, SCRs with LW and other technologies

Scenario for platforms with access to the wells (SPAR, FPDSO, MCF etc.)

Some of Our Projects
Private Equity Fund for O&G Suppliers

Gaia has a partnership with the fund manager Valora, working as the technical consultant for a private equity
fund dedicated to Brazilian suppliers of the O&G market.

The fund will raise around US$ 500 million, to be invested on 5 to 8 companies.
Opportunity for Brazilian Forging Sector

The Brazilian Government (BNDES, FINEP etc) wants to improve the domestic oil & gas industry, including the
forging sector.

Main Idea: introduction of a new forging player in Brazilian Market, with high degree of local content.

Import technologies and production processes not available in Brazil (partnerships with strategic players).
