– “Promoting strategies for increasing participation by Brazilian researchers,
universities, institutions and industries in the 7th Framework Programme for
Research and Technological Development (RTD) and other relevant EU
programmes;”
– “Exploring modalities for participation of European researchers, universities,
institutions and industries in relevant Brazilian research programmes;”
– Participação brasileira nas seguintes áreas:
• Energia - 15 propostas brasileiras submetidas para a primeira Chamada de
Energia do FP7, em 2007. Em 2008, foram 26
• Transporte - 26 propostas brasileiras envolvendo aeronáutica e transporte de
superfície
• Alimentos, agricultura, pesca e biotecnologia - 8 parceiros do Brasil foram
selecionados.
• Saúde - sete projetos selecionados para financiamento em campos como
doenças tropicais e câncer

– “Strengthening cooperation between the EC and Brazil in the area of Earth
Observation, in particular through participation in the GEO (Group on
Earth Observation) Initiative;”

– “Exploring opportunities for cooperation on research for pacific use of
nuclear energy, particularly by examining the possibility to launch
negotiations on a co-operation agreement in the field of research on fusion
energy between Brazil and the EAEC (EURATOM), which would among
others, facilitate supporting the interest of access by Brazil to the
International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project.”

II. Enhancing the Economic, Social and Environmental
Partnership to Promote Sustainable Development
• “1. Fostering the Economic Partnership: 1.6. Information Society:”
– “Expand the bilateral dialogue and cooperation on ICT matters, encompassing
policy, regulatory and research issues. This collaboration will contribute to ensure
a stable regulatory framework in this sector, which will set the conditions to take
full advantage of ICT in support of public policies and social welfare;”
– “Work in close co-ordination in all relevant international fora in order to facilitate
the full implementation of all WSIS outcomes;”
– “Promote exchanges on e-infrastructures for networking and access to the
electronic services between research libraries and data archives.”

biocombustíveis de segunda geração
– Interesse brasileiro: bioplásticos; biocombustível para aviação; e
geração de energia fotovoltaica, eólica e a partir de ondas do mar.
• Agricultura e Biotecnologia:
– Iniciativas de cooperação trilateral com países africanos
– Interesse brasileiro: fertilizantes alternativo; materiais nanorgânicos;
saúde animal; sistemas integrados; e mudança do clima
– Interesse europeu: bioprodutos a partir de biomassa; agricultura
orgânica; saúde das plantas; e insumos vegetais para geração de
energia

• Nanotecnologia:
– Seminário para intercâmbio de informações e identificação de áreas
de cooperação futura
– Subáreas de interesse: nanobiotecnologia, engenharia de
nanopartículas, nanometrologia e aspectos regulatórios
• Saúde:
– Iniciativas de cooperação trilateral com países africanos
– Interesse em lançamento de editais conjuntos em: saúde pública;
doenças infecciosas; e não infecciosas.

– Transporte terrestre e marítimo:
• Temas sugeridos pelo lado europeu: infra-estrutura viária;
padronização; navegação de cabotagem; logística e sistemas

– Transporte aeronáutico:
• Áreas de interesse para lançamento de editais conjuntos: segurança,
meio ambiente e tecnologias pioneiras de aviação.
• Interesse brasileiro: eficiência energética, combustíveis alternativos,
navegação aérea, sistemas computacionais embutidos, design para
redução de ruídos e materiais compósitos.

• Mobilidade de Pesquisadores:
– Interesse europeu em enviar pesquisadores a instituições brasileiras
– Brasil é um dos principais parceiros internacionais do programa de
mobilidade europeu (Marie Curie)
