筆歌墨舞，澳門情懷
黎明先生是出生於澳門的藝術家，1940年11歲時師從羅寶山習人物畫，並獲嶺南派大師高劍父所賞識並
跟隨左右，1944年15歲即正式加入春睡畫院，成為高劍父晚年的入室弟子，前後得益於高師指導逾十
年，直至1951年高劍父在澳門鏡湖醫院辭世。
20世紀50年代初期，黎明先生曾任教於澳門仿林中學和吳靈芝學校美術科。40年代至50年代居澳期間，
經常出入澳門的街巷郊野，“搜盡奇峰打草稿”，以小城景物入畫，創作了一大批以澳門歷史風物為題材
的山水作品，其中一幅表現大三巴牌坊的作品更獲高劍父題寫 “濠江聖跡”，令年青的他深受鼓舞激勵。
黎明先生在1953年赴香港定居後，仍惦念家鄉同好，經常回澳參加各種藝事活動。
“出新意於法度之中，寄妙理於豪放之外”，黎明先生在漫長的藝術之旅中獲嶺南繪畫真傳，師造化而不
拘泥寫實寫景，寓新意而又熔中西繪事之長。他熱愛大自然，經常外出寫生，自生活中汲取養份，在技
藝上不斷求新創新。他的創作題材每每從生活中信手拈來，畫作似滿幅輕鬆，而內斂雄渾豪健之骨和清
遠飄逸之韻。其筆墨來自傳統，卻又自成一家新院體畫。他擅人物、工山水、精花鳥、尤善翎毛，是個
不可多得的畫壇全才；他的畫風清新、工意交融，筆法、墨韻、賦彩均恰到好處，真正達到雅俗共賞的
境界。
黎明先生於闊別澳門50多年後，又回到他的出生地和初步藝術之途的故里，舉辦他在澳門的首次個人畫
展，除為家鄉文化事業傾心盡力外，也為半個世紀前曾為中國畫壇帶來重大影響的嶺南繪畫藝術，再添
上一篇絢麗的華章。

Lai Ming é um artista nascido em Macau. Em 1940, com 11anos, começou a estudar retrato com Law Po Shan e teve
como tutor o mestre do estilo de Lingnan Gao Jianfu. Quatro anos mais tarde, entrou na Academia de Arte Chun
Shui e tornou-se no mais jovem pupilo de Gao Jianfu, sob a orientação de quem esteve durante mais de 10 anos
até à morte deste em 1951, no Hospital Kiang Wu.
Ao longo desses 10 anos, passeou muitas vezes pelas ruas e subúrbios de Macau em busca de cenários bonitos que
lhe servissem de inspiração. Criou diversas paisagens reproduzindo a Macau antiga, em particular uma pintura das
Ruínas de S. Paulo acerca da qual Gao Jianfu escreveu a inscrição — “Relíquia Sagrada de Macau” — o que constituiu
um grande encorajamento para o seu jovem aluno.
No início dos anos 50, ensinou Belas-Artes em duas escolas secundárias locais. Imigrou para Hong Kong em 1953, mas
porque tem muitas saudades dos amigos regressa a Macau com frequência onde participa em diversas actividades.
Lai Ming continua o legado dos seus predecessores, criando o seu próprio mundo artístico, através da mistura
de estilos ocidental e oriental, aderindo ao espírito Lingnan mas não se confinando ao Realismo. O seu talento é
patente quer no desenho quer no abstracionismo, desenhando figuras humanas, paisagens, flores e, em especial,
pássaros. O seu estilo de pintura fresco, a mistura de técnicas e o peculiar manuseio do pincel, da tinta-da-china e
de cores, trazem uma nota de perfeição às suas pinturas.
Lai Ming deixou Macau há mais de 50 anos. Regressa agora à terra natal, onde começou a sua jornada no mundo
da arte, para apresentar a primeira exposição individual. Tal constituiu uma contribuição para o desenvolvimento
cultural da cidade e marca um novo capítulo na história da Escola de Pintura Lingnan, que teve uma enorme
influência na pintura chinesa há cerca de 50 anos.

Lai Ming is a Macao-born artist. In 1940, at the age of 11, he started studying portraiture under Law Po Shan and also
came under the personal tutelage of Lingnan master Gao Jianfu. Four years later, Lai entered the Chun Shui Art Academy
and became Gao Jianfu’s youngest pupil, receiving guidance from the master for a total of over ten years until Gao passed
away in Kiang Wu Hospital in 1951.
During his teens, Lai often wandered around Macao’s streets and suburbs seeking out beautiful scenes for inspiration. He
produced many landscape paintings featuring old Macao, particularly a painting of St. Paul’s Ruins concerning which Gao
Jianfu wrote an inscription—“Sacred Relic of Macao”—providing great encouragement to the young artist. In the early
1950s, Lai taught Fine Arts in two secondary schools in Macao. Even after he migrated to Hong Kong in 1953, he still missed
his old friends and would often return to Macao to attend different types of art activities.
Lai Ming continues the legacy of his predecessors, creating his own artistic world, blending together Eastern and Western
painting techniques, adhering to the Lingnan spirit but not limiting himself to realism. He is skilled in both drawings and
abstract paintings depicting human figures, landscapes, flowers, with a special talent for painting birds. His fresh style of
painting, the blending of techniques and his exquisite use of brush, ink and colour have brought a note of perfection to
his paintings.
Lai Ming left Macao over fifty years ago. Now he returns to his birthplace, where he started his journey of art, to hold his first
solo exhibition. This exhibition is a contribution to the cultural development of his hometown and marks another chapter
in the history of the Lingnan School of Painting, which had a major influence on Chinese painting half a century ago.

濠江乃余之桑梓也。先嚴黎兆錫生於斯，先慈宋瑞瓊生於斯，余亦於一九二九年生焉。惟余少年時代，
遭逢抗日戰爭，澳門地處南海一隅，華夏藝術方家聖手多所流寓，俾余問津繪事之良機，實為大難中之
萬幸也。
余自一九四○年始，先後師從羅寶山、高劍父二位恩師，從遊習藝十餘載，受益匪淺。寶山師專工海派
錢慧安人物畫，其鮮明個性與靈動畫風，令余茅塞頓開；劍父師開創嶺南畫派，引領中國百年繪畫之革
新，尤令余心扉洞然。由是醉心畫學，六十餘載樂此不疲。而悠悠鄉思，縈繫翰墨，赤子之情，漫溢尺
幅，故土風物，皆成寄託。
承澳門特區政府文化局塔石藝文館為余舉辦個人畫展，隆情厚愛，感人至深，遂以多年之積累奉獻於家
鄉同好之前，聊表外域遊子之故土情懷，但博一粲耳。
Macau é a minha cidade natal. O meu pai Lai Sio Seac e a minha mãe Soong Shui King nasceram em Macau. Foi
onde eu nasci em 1929, alguns anos antes do início da Segunda Guerra Sino-Japonesa. Durante a guerra muitos
artistas talentosos emigraram para Macau e, assim, tive a valiosa oportunidade de aprender pintura com eles.
In 1940, comecei a estudar com Law Po Shan e Gao Jianfu o que constituiu uma grande mais valia ao longo de
10 anos. Law Po Shan era perito em retratos, do género Qian Hui’an, da Escola de Pintura de Xangai. O estilo
vívido destas pinturas abriu o meu espírito. Gao Jianfu estabeleceu a Escola de Pintura Lingnan que constituiu
uma revolução na história da arte chinesa e abriu o meu coração. Desde que comecei a aprender o meu amor
pela pintura nunca diminuiu. A minha nostalgia é expressada com pincéis e tinta-da-china; os meus sentimentos
extravasam para o papel; o cenário da minha terra natal descansa nas minhas pinturas.
Ao realizar esta minha exposição a solo, a Galeria Tap Seac, do Instituto Cultural do Governo da R.A.E. de Macau,
permitiu-me expressar os meus profundos sentimentos pela minha cidade-berço e partilhar o meu trabalho e
alegria com outros artistas e amantes da arte em Macau.

Macao is my hometown. My father Lai Sio Seac and my mother Soong Shui King were both born in Macao. I was born
there in 1929, several years before the Second Sino-Japanese War started. During the war, many talented artists migrated
to Macao, and thus I had a valuable opportunity to study painting with them.
In 1940, I started studying under Law Po Shan and Gao Jianfu and gained a great deal from their teaching for over ten
years. Law Po Shan was an expert in portraits of the Shanghai School of Painting, working in the style of Qian Hui’an. The
lively style of his paintings opened up my mind. Gao Jianfu established the Lingnan School of Painting which marked
a revolution in the history of the Chinese art and opened up my heart. Since the moment I started learning, my love for
painting has never been diminished. My nostalgia is expressed with brush and ink; my sentiments overflow on paper; the
local scenery of my native land rests in my paintings.
By holding this solo exhibition, Tap Seac Gallery, a unit of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, has
allowed me to express my deep feelings for my hometown and to share my work and enjoyment with other artists and
lovers of art in Macao.

Nasceu em Macau no seio de uma família originária de Nanhai, Guangdong.
Estudou retrato com Law Po Shan e pintura da Escola Lingnan com Gao Jianfu.
Entrou na Academia de Arte Chun Shui. Gao Jianfu mudou-lhe o nome de Lai Kwok On para Lai
Ming. No ano seguinte passou a viver com Gao.
Representou a Academia de Arte Chun Shui numa exposição de recolha de fundos para a Livraria
Zhongshan, realizada em Guangzhou.
Fez uma grande exposição em Macau em conjunto com Gao Jianfu e com os seus estudantes, em
homenagem ao primeiro, quando este partiu para o estrangeiro.
Três obras suas foram escolhidas para representarem Macau na exposição itinerante “Arte do Sul da
China”, apresentada em diversas zonas do Sul da China.
Participou numa exposição apresentada na Catedral de São João em Hong Kong em memória de Gao
Jianfu. Na mostra foram exibidas obras póstumas do mestre e obras recentes dos seus quatro discípulos.

Convidado para participar na exposição “Artes de Hong Kong na Actualidade” organizada pelo

1962-1963 Escolhido para representar Hong Kong na “Exposição de Arte da Commonwealth”. As suas obras
foram primeiramente apresentadas numa exposição presidida por Sua Majestade a Rainha, em
Londres, e posteriormente noutros locais do Reino Unido.

Born Lai Kwok On in Macao, from a family originally from Nanhai, Guangdong.
Studied portraiture with Law Po Shan, and Lingnan painting with Gao Jianfu.
Entered Chun Shui Art Academy. Gao Jianfu named him Lai Ming. Started living with Gao from the
following year.
Represented Chun Shui Art Academy in a fund raising art exhibition for Zhongshan Library in
Guangzhou.
Held a large-scale exhibition in Macao together with Gao Jianfu and his fellow students to bid farewell to
Gao who was going abroad.
Three of his paintings were selected to represent Macao at the “South China Art Exhibition”, which toured
different parts of South China.
Participated in an exhibition held in St. John’s Cathedral in Hong Kong in memory of Gao Jianfu. The
exhibition displayed Gao Jianfu’s posthumous works and his four students’ recent paintings.
Works selected for the “Southeast Asian Touring Exhibition” jointly organized by the British Council and the
United States Information Service.
Invited to participate in the exhibition “Hong Kong Arts Today” organized by the Hong Kong Museum of
Art to commemorate the inauguration of Hong Kong City Hall.
Chosen to represent Hong Kong at the “Commonwealth Art Exhibition”. His works were first shown in an
exhibition presided over by Her Majesty the Queen in London, then subsequently in other places in the
