Introduction
North Western Italian region, Piemonte is located right
at the heart of Europe. It is home to an important
aerospace & defence pole, which is mainly concentrated
in the area surrounding its capital city, Torino. The
cluster comprises five renowned international players:
Alenia Aeronautica, Avio Group, Microtecnica, Selex Galileo and Thales Alenia Space,
together with a group of 300 SMES total 15,200 employees and register 3.6 billion €
turnover. R&D represents 86% of the investments and 61% of the companies presented
there owns national and international quality accreditations.
The aerospace industry is mainly concentrated in the province of Torino and exports 96,2%
of the goods in this sector, to a value of 984,2 million €. Principal commercial partners of the
total Torino sales in the aircraft and space-vehicles sector are the US (with 32,7% - 334,9
million €), UK (with 18,9% - 193.2 million €), Germany (186,6 million €) and France (100

A unique feature of Piedmonte aerospace & defense companies is the ability to produce
parts or carry out specialised works based on buyers’ designs and specifications: production
of mechanical elements, assembly of electronic circuits, pressed steel, thermal and surface
treatments, construction of moulds, tools and equipment and electric cabling.
The companies’ members of the cluster respond to strict parameters of evaluation:
technical know-how, innovative products and processes, quality, programmes developed,
global coverage, human resources potential and team work ability.
Torino Piemonte Aerospace Team's assistance to foreign companies is completely free of
charge. In all matchmaking activities the Team as certains foreign companies needs and
upon request suggests possible suppliers. The team is available to arrange: b2b meetings in
Piemonte or on one’s premises, visits to local companies to discover the region's aerospace
& defense sector, arrangements of B2B in worldwide events - such as air shows and
international business conventions - to connect demands and supplies, organization of
networking events between public bodies, institutions, associations and clusters
