Located in Costa do Castelo in Lisbon, Chapitô is a multidisciplinary space where activities are continuously developed in three distinct areas in permanent articulation: Social Action, Education and
Culture. The Chapitô is, and always was, a project and simultaneously an institution persistently
maintaining a dynamic relationship with society and the cultural and social environments where it
belongs, guided by principles of solidarity and social development, where the arts play a central
role in generating and self-worth, education integrated in the socialization and construction of
worthy futures. Inserted in multiple national and international networks linked to the arts and
social inclusion, Chapitô holds a singular knowledge in the field of socioeducational action (social
integration of young people through the performing arts and circus), civic and artistic. Through its
continuous and intensive experience over time, Chapitô has gradually acquired a unique capital of
intervention in this type of youngster’s inclusions: the "know how" to leverage the capabilities and
resources of young people in social difficulties or socialization. This is the main challenges that
animate the longstanding Chapitô design experience, now with over 30 years of history, and
already established as the entity of reference.

The Music Academy of Lagos is an association of public utility , nonprofit , founded on May 27, 1986 by
D. Maria Boulain Fogaca . Began its cultural activity in December 17, 1988 with the completion of the
inaugural concert in the Church of Santa Maria de Lagos . Since 1989 , the Ministry of Culture , is

The aim is to engage 5 scholar groups (one for each NUT II region) in developing tools for add local
cultural heritage to the curricula. Local music, theater and dance will be collected and arranged to
develop a scholar program for each school specific to each region. Teachers will be trained to acquire
these skills and a final year act will be proposed, with Profissional artists from music, theater and
dance from Portugal and Norway working together with schools to have a demonstration of the developed heritage tools.

We aim to make a professional production of a play based on the Utøya events – on 22 July 2011,
Anders Breivik shot several individuals on the Utøya island, killing 69 people, of which 33 were under
the age 18. Most people at Utøya were teenagers, so this would be perfect to engage teenagers in a
professional theatre production and on themes such as democracy, racism and extremist groups. The
production will have 2 professional actors on stage with a choir formed by students over 14 years old
(we need 10 to 20 students). We would like to take the performance outside Lisbon to perform with a
choir of local students. This will mean 1 week of work with our musical director at the school and 1
week of rehearsals with the actors on the stage to make 2 performances at the end of the week
(Saturday and Sunday).

“Intervalo”/ "Recess" is a project designed for children with ages ranging from 8 to 14 years old. These children must also be enrolled in primary schools within the district of Castelo Branco (Portugal).
This project has as a starting point the space and time of the “Intervalo”/ "Recess" and it promotes
children’s contact with concepts of education applied to citizenship. We want to promote this kind of
behavior through multidisciplinary artistic expression workshops.
Throughout this project, the participants will use daily life situations as their stimulus: be it in the
classroom, recess or home environment.
These situations will be the keynote for the development of ludic and imagination-like theatrical proposals. Thus, as the students play, they come in contact with their reality and reflect upon it having
the opportunity of making decisions and thinking about them. This project will end with a theatrical
spectacle with the children where the “Intervalo”/ "Recess" takes place as a space and time for freedom, civic and ludic expression of its participants.

O grupo de artistas e professores que lideram a proposta pretendem implementar ações de arte comunitária com um grupo de habitantes de bairros periféricos de Vila Nova de Gaia e do Porto, cujos saberes são pouco valorizados pela sociedade onde vivem. Para isso irão trabalhar com artistas de entidades parceiras como a Coreto (danças do mundo); o coletivo Metasintesis (coletivo de artistas sociais
de Alicante); Revolta das Agulhas (coletivo de artistas comprometidos socialmente); Porto d'artes
(espaço privado de lazer no Bairro e Juntas de freguesia das localidades escolhidas. Futuramente irão
ser também abordadas outras entidades, nomeadamente educativas e turísticas, para colaborar. As
ações artísticas serão levadas a cabo por artistas e educadores ou professores com voluntários da
população residente de mais idade.

Encontros da Imagem 2013 is the 24rd International Photography Festival organized as a annual event
by the Cultural Association Encontros da Imagem since 1987. As a annual event it is concerned on contemporary updates of photography-concept and it is open for challenging and innovative artistic and
esthetic interpretations. The Cultural Association Encontros da Imagem seeks to improve the quality
the learning of target audiences and meet the expectations of the artistic and cultural scene, in terms
of education and training, following these aims: - Ensuring the public access to the field of Visual Arts,
with emphasis on the culture of photography - Promote lectures, seminars or other activities likely to
enhance the practice of photography as the artistic act. Promote educational initiatives in order to
contribute to the promotion of monuments and archaeological places, stimulate awareness and training for the knowledge and safeguarding of cultural heritage. During the last editions, the Festival is
working with sociality and disadbantaged groups and adults with a strong interest in photography and
basic knowledges in this field. Preference were given to unemployed, less educated, people coming
from rural ares, who have never testes a camera. Recently were organized workshops with visually
exploration of the city by following paths along which the coexistence of historical and modern elements are clearly visible. Photography has a key role in visually exploring such relationship, giving an
opportunity to investigate the relation between man and the territory which he inhabits. On the other
hand, the Cultural Association Encontros da Imagem is composed of members connected to the practice of teaching the visual arts seeking to improve the quality the learning of target audiences and
meet the expectations of the artistic and cultural scene, in terms of education and training. The
members are also curators of the Festival and the choice of the theme for every edition. The association also established contacts with personalities and institutions of the photographic medium, portuguese and international, aimed at a gradual development of the festival; Also was been developed an
entire program of seminars and workshops by national and foreign experts who have helped to educate and inform a growing public practices that the plurality of contemporary photography admits. It is
intended with these activities promote reflection on the conditions of production, reception and criticism of the photographic image, and ensure the participants, direct contact and critical dialogue with
the professionals of Photography and Visual Arts.

Including Young People: Engaging with the arts, developing skills for employability. The Arpad SzenesVieira da Silva Foundation is developing an educational project focusing on young people and skills for
employability. The Foundation established partnerships with a group of secondary schools, municipalities, artists, social institutions and business companies, and wish to provide opportunities for young
people to engage with the arts and culture aiming to increase their aspirations and self-confidence
and to develop their personal and professional skills that can support them in their career paths.
The project will create opportunities to work together with artists in projects that will not only contribute to develop and inspire creativity and art/craft skills, but also other practical skills for their
careers, e.g. organisational, communication and entrepreneurial skills; The project will support young
people in creating peerled initiatives and youth friendly environments and in developing and presenting high quality projects; The project will contribute to break down hierarchic and generational barriers, particularly in the creative industries and generate new opportunities, ideas and innovative projects; Young people will be encouraged introduce digital platforms in the museum to make it more
youth friendly; The project aims to provide regular opportunities for young people to be in touch with
high profile professionals in both creative and business sectors and make the museum a platform for
networking.
