Program Portfolio 2012 LASPAU currently manages scholarship programs such as the Fulbright Foreign Student Program on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Science without Borders Program on behalf of the Government of Brazil, the Becas Caldas program of COLCIENCIAS (Colombia) and the Academic Scholarship Programs of the Organization of American States. Over the past 47 years, LASPAU has designed and administered programs for a broad array of government agencies, universities, private foundations, and international organizations throughout the Americas such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Inter-American Development Bank, and the World Bank. Our organization also has extensive experience managing scholarship programs for government agencies in the region including Fundayacucho (Venezuela), SENESCYT (Ecuador), and FANTEL (El Salvador). In addition, LASPAU has designed and managed programs for foundations such as The Goldman Sachs Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Science without Borders Fulbright Foreign Student Program The Science without Borders program, an initiative of the Brazilian government, is designed to promote the consolidation, expansion, and internationalization of Brazilian science and technology, innovation and competitiveness through international educational exchange. The initiative is jointly administered by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Education through it respective development institutions: CNPq and CAPES. The portion of the program administered by LASPAU provides scholarships for grantees to pursue doctoral degrees in the United States. The Fulbright Foreign Student Program, including the Faculty Development program, provides grants to individuals from Latin America and the Caribbean for graduate study in the United States. Grants are awarded for Master’s and Ph.D. programs in a variety of fields of study. OAS Academic Scholarship Program The Organization of American States Academic Scholarship Programs provide grants to individuals in OAS member countries to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies. Grants are awarded for either on-site or online study in a university or institutionof higher education in an OAS member country. Becas INICIA Program Fundación INICIA, a non-profit organization within the private sector in the Dominican Republic, will provide scholarships to Dominican educators, administrators, and professionals to study master’s degrees in education related fields in the United States. FANTEL The FANTEL program provides grants for individuals from El Salvador to pursue undergraduate or graduate level studies in universities around the world. Sponsored by the Ministry of Education of El Salvador, this program is jointly administered by the Fundación para la Educación Integral Salvadoreña (FEDISAL), and LASPAU. Crédito Beca Francisco José de Caldas The Crédito Beca Francisco José de Caldas program provides opportunities for Colombians to pursue doctoral degrees at universities around the world. The Departamento Administrativo de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (COLCIENCIAS) in Colombia launched the Generación del Bicentenario initiative in 2009, designed to strengthen research across Colombian institutions that are part of the National System of Science, Technology, and Innovation. FINCyT The FINCyT Science and Technology Program provides scholarships for Peruvian professors and researchers to pursue doctoral programs in areas related to basic sciences and engineering. The program aims to improve competitiveness in Peru by strengthening the capacity for research and technological innovation.
