REGULATION 1. GENERAL CONDITIONS 1.1 The XII SIMPPETRA - International Stone Sculpture Symposium - will be held from 4 to 31 July 2010, at Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. 1.2 Sculptures that are produced in the SIMPPETRA by the participants will remain exclusive property of the Municipality of Caldas da Rainha, and will be placed according to the decision of the Committee. 1.3 All sculptors and assistants will be insured with a health insurance during the Symposium period. 2. CONDITIONS FOR CANDIDACY 2.1 Portuguese or foreign sculptors must complete the “Application Form” enclosed, which includes: personal data, curriculum vitae, photos of their work, catalogue, a sketch, and detailed description of the project. 2.2 All projects must be sent until May 30, 2010. 2.3 Candidates must project site specific sculptures for the 5 different locations the committee selected. Photos and other documents are available in the Simppetra site, and each candidate can project to one or more locations. 2.4 The Jury has three members: Councillor of Culture, Sculptor Antonino Mendes and the director of the Arts Centre. 2.5 The jury will chose among the artists registered, the selected participants, and shall send written notice of acceptance. After the sculpture is completed, it is up to the jury’s to decide to place (or not) the works to the selected location. 3. ACCOMMODATION AND EXPENSES 3.1 To all participants will be paid staying expenses, such as: hotel expenses, and meals, as well as 50% of travelling expenses (must have receipt). Extra luggage not included. 3.2 All expenses beyond this, such as other travelling expenses, lengthening the stay beyond the days of the symposium, special private transportation arrangements and accommodation for others, are the responsibility of the sculptor. 4. WORKING TOOLS AND STONE 4.1 The participants must choose the type of stone (marble, granite and limestone) and dimensions. Eventually, other materials can be used, in which case sculptors must give detailed description. 4.2 The municipality of Caldas da Rainha will supply electricity (220v), compressed air with tools and water connections. In addition, a crane will be placed on site every few days. 4.3 The participants may bring their one personal tools, in which case transportation and care are their own responsibility. 5.
