Format:
• UM contributes to $10,000/year for 2 years. FAPESP
contributes the same.
• The number of awards depends on how much UM
wants to invest.
• Funds cover mostly travel expenses, in most cases for
the Brazilian collaborator to come to the UM lab to do
the work.

Benefits:
• Engaging and developing new collaborations with
Brazilian scientists.
• Because most of the work would be done in Miami, it
essentially doubles the UM investment in a pilot
project.
• It can lead to further and larger collaborative grants
with FAPESP. Foreign components can be included in
their regular grants.
