Presentation of the book Cinema in Portugal: The Industrial Documentaries from 1933 to 1985 The book O Cinema em Portugal: Os Documentários Industriais de 1933 a 1985 (Cinema in Portugal: The Industrial Documentaries from 1933 to 1985), written by Paulo Miguel Martins, will be presented by filmmaker José da Fonseca e Costa at the Chiado Fnac, on the 12th of December at 6.30 p.m. This work, published by the INCM, is an in-depth study about a genre of cinema that aimed to paint a portrait of companies in the industrial sector. The documentaries revealed several of the country's social, economic and cultural aspects and represent a vast resource for research. A lot of filmmakers began their careers by creating art from industry, bringing technical aspects and aesthetics into line with each other. As a result, this book contains testimonies and statements by various filmmakers, taken from interviews conducted by the author, that describe the production process of these types of films and their contribution to the development of the companies that commissioned them, as well as the progress of the seventh art. 9 December 2011 IMPRENSA NACIONAL – CASA DA MOEDA, S.
