Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil are coming to Edpcooljazz
bringing a unique concert that celebrates their 50th career
anniversary
The renowned BPM duo is bringing their best repertoire to edpcooljazz, celebrating 50 years
of career as part of their commemorative tour "Caetano & Gil - Dois Amigos, Um Século de
Música" (Two Friends, A Century of Music)
Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso are the artists who will close edpcooljazz's 12th edition, on stage at the Poets Park
at the Oeiras Municipal Stadium, on July 31st. It will surely be an unforgettable night. Once again the coolest
festival in Portugal brings its audience a unique concert. This time the two biggest names in Brazilian Popular Music
are celebrating their 50th career anniversary and will present the audience with the unique opportunity to
participate in an unparalleled musical moment.
The concert at edpcooljazz by the pair of MPB giants is part of their tour "Caetano & Gil - Dois Amigos, Um Século
de Música", and will showcase a wide repertoire including all of Caetano and Gil's best songs, in a unique and
intimate voice and guitar format.
Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso need no introduction. They are compelling references of BPM who had the famous
tropicalista cultural movement of the troubled 60s as a major milestone in their careers. “Você é linda”, "Terra”,
“Aquele abraço”, “Palco”, “Haiti”, “Desde que o Samba é Samba” and “Cinema Novo” are just some of the tracks that
will forever mark the international music scene.
Both artist have been internationally awarded. Caetano was elected the 4th biggest Brazilian music artist of all
times, for all of his work, and also the 8th biggest Brazilian singer of all times, by Rolling Stone magazine. Gilberto
Gil is an artist who has not only won Grammys but who has also lived a significant political experience as Brazil's
Minister of Culture between 2003 and 2008.
