This is the first meeting of AgroLAC 2025 partners and supporters, which is being held in advance of the
official public launch of the funding platform, to be held later in the year. It is an opportunity for the
AgroLAC 2025 platform’s steering committee and collaborative partners to begin working together and
to discuss specific opportunities and projects that the fund could support.
The meeting is being hosted by Dow, an early and key supporter of the AgroLAC 2025 initiative and a
supporting partner in the preparation of the 2014 report, The Next Global Breadbasket: How Latin
America Can Feed the World, spearheaded by the IDB and the Global Harvest Initiative. An early
Steering Committee member, The Nature Conservancy, is participating in the meeting, as well as nearly
100 representatives from more than 40 agribusinesses and non-profit agriculture-related research and
other stakeholder organizations.
Aside from two plenary gatherings of the participants, the event consists of breakout sessions on a
number of key topics aligned with the AgroLAC pillars – linking farmers to markets, sustainable
agricultural intensification, and agri/environmental planning. These sessions will explore opportunities
for the funding platform to spur innovation in these areas and identify potential partners for developing
solutions that AgroLAC 2025 can support.
