The Advanced Studies Course
in Architectural Heritage is
an initiative of the Faculty of
Architecture of the University
of Porto aiming to provide
specialized post-graduate
training (3rd cycle level)
in the field of restoration,
recuperation and rehabilitation
of the built heritage, assuring
the acquisition of relevant
competences and skills for
the project and investigation
activities concerning the
safeguard of the architectural
heritage.
This course is deeply
connected with the Doctoral
Program at faup, in the
context of the respective
studies profile in architectural
heritage (profile d).
Attendance and correspondent
accreditation of single course
units are also included.

The course is primarily intended
for professionals in architecture,
whose basic graduation is
considered particularly adequate
for its attendance, although the
access for other graduations is
not excluded. The professional
activities, for which this course is
designed, are those traditionally
related with research, architectural
design project and correlated areas,
such as archaeology, conservation
and restoration, among others,
either in public or in private
sectors.

The application to the registration
in this advanced studies course
is conditioned by the titularity of
a minimum of 300 ects credits,
to which must correspond a
master’s degree in Architecture,
Engineering or similar (Arts
History, Conservation and
Restoration, Archaeology, etc.), or
of an old degree in Architecture,
Engineering, or similar, of at
least five years duration. There
may be also admitted to this
course candidates holding foreign
universities degrees since they
fulfill the requirements in the
previous item, after a curricular
appreciation by the Scientific
Commission. Exceptionally, and in
dully justified cases, the Scientific
Commission may admit candidates
holding a scholar, scientific or
professional curriculum which
attests his/her capacity to attend
the course.
