João Nuno Fernandes

João Nuno Fernandes has a Ph.D in Civil Engineering from the Instituto Superior
Técnico, Lisbon. The PhD thesis was concluded in 2013 and dealt with the flow
characterization in compound channels and the interaction of the flow with the
vegetation. He has approximately 12 years of experience. He worked in several
research and consultancy projects mainly related to flood inundation, fluvial hydraulics
and hydraulic structures. He was an invited assistant professor at the Science and
Technology Faculty of the New University of Lisbon. Since January 2015 he become a
postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology of
the ETH Zurich.
