Presentation
We present an innovative course for scenario-based surgical training. By the first time at Portugal we present the development
of a new simulation system of training minimally invasive surgery, the embalmed human cadaver.
The course is limited to 9 participants and begins at 30h January by one complete day of theoretical and video sessions.
We give to all participants a theoretical monograph and a bibliography research plan. And one month after they have three
days of full practice on cadaver (hands-on).
The participants are divided by three OR tables and their practice is made under 6 experts supervision.
All participants will be evaluated by a theoretical final examination and must do an anonymous evaluation of the course.
Aims
They consist in the improvement of the skills in laparoscopic surgery with a training model very similar to life surgery
Target
Residents of General Surgery and Surgeons
Evaluation Methodology
1. Continuous evaluation of surgical procedures (from 0 to 5) following the evaluation protocol previously explained and given
to participants
2. Theoretical final evaluation by a written test (from 0 to 20) concerning all the theoretical matter (Monograph and Bibliography
researched given one month before)
3. Final classification of the course is the arithmetical mean of nº 1 and 2 classifications and is written in the Certificate of
Attendance.
