Title: Research Scholarship for a Master – one position The application for a research scholarship in the project/ R&D Institution (Insights into a novel bacterial system of copper resistance), (PTDC/BIA-PRO/098882/2008), is now open. This project is financed by National funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC), in the following conditions: 1. Scientific Area: Biological Sciences 2. Requirements: The candidate should hold at least a Master Degree in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or similar), with an average equal or higher than 15 (out of 20), and experience in Molecular Biology and/or Protein Purification and Characterization, with preference in heterologous expression of proteins. Experience in characterization of DNA-protein interactions or application of Biomolecular NMR methodologies will be considered an added value. 3. Work Plan: The candidate will be working in the heterologous expression and characterization of proteins involved in the molecular system responsible for copper tolerance in Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus, and in the two-component signal transduction system that regulates this system. Place of work: The work will be developed in REQUIMTE – Centro de Química Fina e Biotecnologia, Departamento de Química, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the supervision of Doutor Sofia R. Pauleta. 6. Duration of the Scholarship: The scholarship has the duration of three months, starting at 15th January 2012. The scholarship contract can be renewed within the duration of the project. 7. Value of the monthly scholarship: The value of the scholarship corresponds to € 980, according to the Table with the values of the scholarships from FCT, I.P. in Portugal (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), and this payment is made monthly by bank transfer. 8. Selection Method: The selection of the candidates will be based on the following: evaluation of the Curriculum vitae and professional experience, interview that can have a short exam. The candidates will be ranked according with the final grade obtained by: 60% curricular evaluation, 20% professional experience, and 20% for the interview/short exam. The chosen candidate will be notified by email. 11. Time limit for the application and presentation of the applications: The application will be open between 07 to 21 December of 2011.
