VIDEOPLAY
VideoPlay é uma plataforma internacional com sede na Argentina para a divulgação da videoarte no mundo inteiro.
Esta é uma iniciativa sem fins lucrativos, iniciada em 2004 pelo artista visual e curador Silvio De Gracia, que é um
artista com uma vasta experiência de organização e curadoria de festivais e eventos internacionais de videoarte.
VideoPlay concentra-se actualmente no género da videoperformance e outras obras que, embora não claramente
enquadradas na categoria de arte de acção, apresentem uma profundo reflexão na esfera performática. O principal
objectivo é espalhar a videoperformance feitas por artistas de todo o mundo, especialmente latino-americanos.
Videoplay is an Argentina-based international platform for the dissemination of videoart over the world. This is a
non-profitable initiative started in 2004 by the visual artist and curator Silvio De Gracia, who is an artist-run with an
extensive experience of organization and curating international festivals and events in videoart.
Videoplay is focusing especially on the gender of the videoperformance and other works which, though not clearly
framed within the category of art-action, reflect a deep anchorage in the performatic sphere. The main purpose is
to spread the videoperformance made by artists from around the world, especially Latin American artists.

Tierra / Soil, Julieta Maria (USA) | 4.05’
Terra / solo é parte de uma série de vídeos que a artista executa para a câmera,
explorando o tema da violência e vulnerabilidade. Proximidade à terra implica estar
próximo da vida e da morte, do visceral. A paisagem é fonte de idéias, sonhos de
identidade de pertença, mas também de pesadelo quando confrontado com o real.
Tierra/soil is part of a video series in which the artist do actions for the camera, exploring the subject of violence and vulnerability. Closeness to the earth implies being
close to life and death, to the visceral. The landscape is source of ideas of identity,
dreams of belonging, but also nightmares when confronted with the side of it that
partakes in the real.
China Astronaut, Deng Dafei (CH) | 7.26’
Vestindo o fato espacial “austronauta futuro” apareceu em Hangzhou em
todo o espaço público representativo, as costas de frente para a bola de pelúcia. O artista criou uma imagem visual fantástica para aparecer na aparente
ordem normal social.
Wearing a space suit “future austronaut” and appeared in Hangzhou in all
representative of public space, the back facing the plush ball doing simulation dung betle movement. The artist have created a fantastic visual image to
appear in the seemingly normal social order.
Ballons, Baggenstos-Rudolf (SW) | 3.48’
Em “Balões” a dupla de artistas concentra-se sobre as possibilidades e as
aparências dos aspectos verbais e não verbais de comunicação moderna.
In “Balloons” the artist duo focuses on the possibilities and the appearances
of verbal and nonverbal aspects of modern communication.
Cachetada, Miguel R Sepúlveda (MX) | 5.08’
O vídeo começa com um estado de relaxamento da mente e com o tom natural da pele, o qual após uma série de chapadas o rosto fica vermelho e
inchado.
The video begins with a relaxed state of mind and natural skin tone, after
which I receive a series of slaps until my face becomes red and swollen.

PROYECTOR pretende apresentar uma pequena mas variada mostra de videoarte internacional, convidando jovens promissores a presentar os seus
trabalhos.
O festival realiza-se em numerosas salas de Madrid onde exposiçôes, projeccôes, workshops e palestras complementan a mostra.
Usando palavras do videoasta Fernando Llanos, “Videemos”.
PROYECTOR intends to present a small but varied sample of international video art, inviting promising young artists to present their work. The festival
takes place in Madrid in several rooms complemented with exhibitions, screenings, workshops and lectures.

Um local desconhecido. Um dos objectivos seria tomar consciência do processo, em toda a sua experiência, sem temer o embaraço em compreender que a performance / peça, está escondida no
mais inesperado e desconhecido de nosso ser / corpo / atelier ... no meu caso, descobri que a argila
é o corpo que relembra a espiritualidade humana e a sua destruição é o meu objeto / acto sagrado.
An unknown location. One aim would be aware of the process, in their fully experience, without fear
of causing embarrassment to understand that the performance / piece is hidden in the most unexpected and unknown of our being / body / taller... in my case, I found the clay, the body that recalls
the human spirituality and the utter destruction is my object / sacred act.

As fronteiras são-nos apresentadas como signos de expressão do poder: artificios que traçam a
paisagem da dominação e da desigualdade. Estes trabalhos audiovisuais redefinem estas áreas de
fronteira, desestabilizam-nas, quebram-nas simbólicamente, instalam-se nos seus interstícios para
reinventar líricamente esse control.

The boundaries are shown to us as signs of the expression of power devices that draw the landscape
of domination, inequality. These audiovisual works redefine these border areas, the disorderly, symbolically break, settle into their interstices to bust lyrically that control.

O trabalho auto-reflexivo explora questões de voyeurismo, objectificação e vigilância como prática
discursiva. O projecto explora as interrupções e luminárias no olhar vídeo e sua relação com o corpo
humano. Num mundo de encolhimento geográfico e aumento da tecnologia da imagem móvel, os
processos espectatóricos parecem “dirigidos” nalgum sentido.
The work self-reflexively explores issues of voyeurism, objectification and surveillance as discursive
practice. The project explores disruptions and fixtures in the video gaze and its relationship to the
human body. In a world of shrinking geographies and increasing mobile image technology, processes of spectatorship appear to be “directed” in some sense.

Aproxima-se da zona de fronteira como contendo uma miragem que leva à abordagem do “outro”
como uma ameaça.
Através da fragmentação e superposição temporal de estados (entre a vigília e o sono) levanta uma
série que se baseia na reconstrução dos factos e evoca a experiência de encontro com uma exposição etnográfica...
Approaches the border area as containing a mirage that leads to the approach of the “other” as a
threat.
Through fragmentation and temporal superposition of states (between wakefulness and sleep)
raises a set that is based on the reconstruction of the facts and evokes the experience of finding
ethnographic exhibition.
