Clarification regarding newspaper article
Light S.A., a publicly-held company headquartered at Avenida Marechal Floriano, nº 168, segundo andar,
corredor A, in the city and state of Rio de Janeiro, registered with the CVM under no. 19879 and inscribed
in the roll of corporate taxpayers (CNPJ/MF) under no. 03.378.521/0001-75 (“Company”), hereby presents
the explanations requested by OFFICIAL LETTER 124/2015/CVM/SEP/GEA-1 of April 13, 2015 regarding
the article that appeared in the April 13, 2015 edition of the newspaper O GLOBO, entitled Zelotes: Light é
citada por processos de quase R$ 1 bilhão (Zelotes: Light is cited in processes involving almost R$1
billion).
We hereby declare that the Company has no knowledge whatsoever of the supposed irregularities
mentioned in the press in regard to “Operation Zelotes” and that it has always acted within the law and will
continue to do so, guided by a behavior based on integrity, transparency and solidarity.
Although the Company has not been notified, Light S.A. would like to make it clear that in all lawsuits
against Light's subsidiaries, in which the subsidiaries were successful, these successes were not only due
to generally known legal doctrines, based on the opinions of renowned legal minds, but also the
presentation of proper documentation, unequivocally proving the invalidity of the tax deficiency notices that
were the subject of these lawsuits.
We will keep the market informed in a timely manner of any further developments regarding this matter.
