1. For W ind ow s 2000/XP, if the installation m enu does not app e a r autom atically, click S tart,
click R u n, and type D :\a u to ru n w h e re "D" in "D :\autoru n.exe " is the le tter assigned to your
C D -R O M Drive, and then press the E N T E R key on y o u r keyboard.
2. For W ind ow s Vista, if the installation m enu does not app e a r autom atically, clic k on the
W ind ow s Icon on the bottom left hand c orner o f the screen, c lick on the “S tart S e a rc h ”
box, and type D :\autorun.exe, w h e re “ D ” in “ D :\auto run .exe” is the letter assigned to y our
C D -R O M Driver, and then press the E N T E R key on y o u r keyboard.
3. For W ind ow s 7, if the installation m enu does not app e a r autom atically, clic k on the
W ind ow s Icon on the bottom left hand c orner o f the screen,, click the “S e arch program s
and file s” box, and type D :\autorun.exe, w h e re “ D” in “ D :\auto run .exe” is the letter

1. Verify that the S S ID m atches y o u r w ireless router or access point's SSID .
2. Please ch eck w ith y o u r netw o rk adm in is tra to r for the security key in order to access a
secured w ireless access p oint or router. R e fer to the U ser's G uide for m ore inform ation
regarding w ireless netw o rk security.
3. C h eck yo u r T C P /IP properties to ensu re that O btain an IP add ress a u tom atically is
selected.
4. D o uble -click the W ireless C o nfiguration U tility icon, click S ite S u rv e y and then click
R efresh to ch eck and see if there are any availab le w ireless netw orks listed.

1. M ake sure yo u r com puter m eets the m inim um requirem ents as specified in S ection 1 of
this quick installation guide.
2. You m ust com ple te the installation o f the W ireless C o nfiguration U tility (as describ ed in
Section 2) before conn ecting the W ireless US B A d a p te r to y o u r com puter.
3. C o nnect the W ireless US B A d a p te r to a different US B port on y o u r com puter.

A cce ss yo u r device m anage r to m ake sure the a d a p te r is installed properly. If you see a
netw orking device w ith a ye llo w question m ark o r exclam a tion point, you w ill need to reinstall
the device a n d /o r the drivers.
1. To access the device m anage r on W ind ow s 2000/XP, right-click M y C o m p u te r, click
P ro p e rtie s , click the H a rd w a re tab, and then c lick D e v ic e M anage r.
2. To access the device m anage r on W ind ow s V ista, right-click C o m p u te r, c lick P ro p e rtie s
and then click D e v ic e M anage r.
3. To access the device m anage r on W ind ow s 7, click on the W ind ow s icon on the bottom
left-hand corner, click C o m p u te r, clic k S y s te m P ro p e rtie s and then click D e v ic e
M a n a g e r.

S ilva ” . E scolha algum que vo ce id entifique facilm en te qua ndo p e sq uisar por redes w ireless
disponiveis.
N ao d esa tive o bro a d ca st de SS ID . O broadca st de S S ID e para e s ta r ligado e desliga -lo pode
c a u sa r problem as na cone ctividade . O m elhor m etodo para se proteger um a rede w ireless e
e sco lh e r um a form a de criptografia forte e um a chave de c riptografia forte e diferente.
Nota: apos config ura r o SSID , o tipo e a chave de criptografia, favor ano ta-lo s para referencia
futura. V oce nece ssitara deles para co n e c ta r seus com putadores w ireless ao pon to de
a cesso /ro te a d o r w ireless.
A lte re o canal. A m aioria dos pontos de acesso e roteadores w ireless vem pre-ajustados para o
canal 6. Se vo ce tem um a ferram enta de site s urvey que apresen ta o canal das redes localizadas,
voce pod era e scolher seu canal em fungao dos pon tos de acesso para m inim izar interferencias
provenientes deles. Se sua ferram enta nao inform a o canal das redes, expe rim en te usar o canal 1
ou 11.
Se voce utiliza pon to de acesso ou rote ador 8 0 2 .1 1n v o c e tam bem pod e fa z e r as seguintes
m udangas. A lte re a largura do canal (channel bandw idth) para 20/40 MHz. Isto proporcio nara a
m aior perform ance p ossivel em disp o sitivo 8 0 2 .1 1n. E tam bem , em utilizand o 802 11n voce
p od era proteger a rede com segu ran ga WPA2.
Nota: D evido a consideragoes da certificagao W i-Fi, se voce esco lh e r criptografia WEP, W PA ou
W P A 2-T K IP o e q u ipam ento ira o p e ra r em m odo w ireless legado (802.11b/g).

Por favor, certifique-se tam bem de que o e q u ipam ento sem fios nao seja colocado em qualquer
tipo de prateleiras ou caixas.
Evite em p ilh a r equ ipam entos uns sobre os outros para pre v e n ir problem a s de sobreaq uecim ento.
M antenha b astante espago livre no entorno do e q u ipam ento para a s s e g u ra r fluxo de ar e boa
ventilagao. Tam bem deve haver espago livre no e ntorno das antenas para perm itir a propagagao
do sinal w ireless.

Ha diverso s outros fatores am bie nta is que podem in fluenciar o alcance de d ispositivo s wireless.
1. A ju ste seu dispositivo w ireless de form a que o sinal seja tran sm itido em um a reta em vez
de um angulo. Q uanto m ais m aterial o sinal tenha de a tra vessar m aior a perda de sinal.
2. M inim ize a q ua ntidade de obstrugoes. C ada obstrugao pode reduzir o alcance de um
dispositivo w ireless. P o sicione os dispositivo s w ireless de form a que a q ua ntidade de
obstrugoes entre eles seja a m enor possivel.
3. M ateriais de construgao podem ter grande im pacto no sinal w ireless. Em am biente
interno, tente p o sicion ar os dispositivo s w ireless de form a que o sinal passe atraves dos
m ateriais m enos densos. M ateriais densos com o m etal, m adeira, vid ro ou m esm o
m obilia podem bloq u e a r ou d e g ra d a r o sinal;
4. O p o sicion am e nto da a n tena tam bem pode te r grande im pacto em seu sinal w ireless. Use
a ferram enta de site survey de seu ada p ta d o r w ireless para de te rm in a r a m elho r posigao
para seu disp o sitivo w ireless.
5. Interfere ncia de d ispositivo s que geram ruido RF (radio freq uencia) tam bem podem afetar
seu sinal. P o sicio ne seus d ispositivo s w ireless afasta dos de qua lq u e r produto que gere
ruido RF, tais com o forn os de m icroondas, radios HAM , W alkie-Talkies e babas
eletronicas.
6. Q u a lq u e r disp o sitivo ope ran do na freq uencia de 2 .4 G H z causa ra interferencia.
D ispositivos com o telefone sem fio 2.4 G H z ou outros rem otos sem fio ope ran do na
freq uencia de 2.4G H z podem d e rrubar o sinal w ireless. M esm o que o tele fo n e nao esteja
sendo utilizado, a base pod e estar tran sm itindo sinal w ireless. C o loqu e a base do
telefone tao distan te qua nto p ossivel de seus dispositivo s w ireless.
Se v o ce ainda e stiver com sinal baixo ou sem sinal considere reposiciona r os dispositivo s w ireless
ou in stalar pontos de acesso a dicion ais.O uso de antenas de alto ganho, d e p endend o do
