Post-doctoral fellowship in the Programa Nacional de Pós-Doutorado
– PNPD, associated to the UFLA Agronomia/Entomologia
Postgraduate Programme
1. AIM
The UFLA postgraduate programme in Entomology is opening a post-doctoral
fellowship position in the Programa Nacional de Pós-Doutorado (PNPD). The
researcher´s profile should fit the areas where the programme seeks to expand during
the coming five years. The successful candidate will work independently, though
associated to one of the laboratories within the post-graduate programme.
2. PROFILE AND AREAS OF INTEREST
The successful candidate will have a profile that fits the programme´s research
areas: “Integrated Pest Management and Biological Control” or “Insect Biology and
Ecology”. However it is highly desirable that the candidate develop research in one of
the following topics:
1. Insect behaviour or behavioural ecology
2. Toxicology or insecticide resistance
3. Insect systematics

3. Research project (maximum 15 pages) describing research plans for a two-year
period, with perspectives for a further three years. The project must be divided
into the following sections: i) Abstract; ii) Introduction and literature review;
iii) Aims and objectives; iv) Material and methods; v) Expected results; vi) Aims
and indicators of progress; vii) Two-year time-use plan; viii) Perspectives for a
further three years; iv) Perspectives for international impact.

f. Supervisions or co-supervisions of undergraduate students
g. Supervisions or co-supervisions of postgraduate students
3. Letter from a researcher member of the UFLA postgraduate programme in
Entomology confirming availability of laboratory space for executing the project
(this document can be delivered directly by the researcher to the Entomology
postgraduate office).
