No roteiro de férias do humorista Helio de la Peña e de sua família,
duas coisas não podem faltar: natureza e uma boa dose de emoção

family must include two things: nature and lots of thrills

TODO ANO, O HUMORISTA HELIO DE LA PEÑA reúne os filhos
para verdadeiras expedições naturalistas. Estudioso de aves, João, de
12 anos, influenciou o irmão mais novo, Antonio, de 10, e juntos fazem
passeios de observação. Foi o que levou a família a Galápagos, em 2011.
Por sete dias, a trupe percorreu o arquipélago num navio; parte do
tempo com snorkel, debaixo d’água, e o resto em terra, desbravando
a fauna. “Há pássaros incríveis, como o atobá de pé azul, que cuida de
um filhote só. Se nascem dois, um deles é expulso do ninho”, conta
Helio. “‘Viu como vocês têm sorte em ser gente?’, falei aos meninos.” Um ano depois, foi ele a estrela das férias. Nadador de longas
distâncias, Helio pratica em mar aberto, no Posto 6 do Rio, e treinou
para a travessia do East River, em Nova York. Foi a primeira vez das
crianças na cidade, e eles aproveitaram para visitar o Central Park –
para observar aves. Uma das últimas viagens, em janeiro de 2014, foi a
Fernando de Noronha, em Pernambuco, para celebrar a formatura de
Antonio no curso de mergulho. “Fizemos um batismo”, conta o pai,
que também mergulha, como João e Joaquim – seu filho de 22 anos,
de outro casamento, que integrou a expedição. Alugaram um buggy
e se aventuraram pelo arquipélago. “São momentos para fazer o que
mais gostamos: estar juntos e perto da natureza”, diz Helio.
EACH YEAR, COMEDIAN HELIO DE LA PEÑA GATHERS HIS CHILDREN FOR ADVENTURES. Bird enthusiast
João, 12, recruited his younger brother Antonio, 10, and they
now go on bird spotting treks together. This was what led
the family to Galapagos in January 2011. They spent seven
days on a ship tour of the archipelago, diving and discovering the fauna. “They have amazing birds, like the blue-footed booby, which will mind a single nestling,” Helio explains.
“When two hatch, one is cast off. I told my sons, ‘See how
lucky you are to be people.’” One year later, Helio himself
was the star of the vacations. A long distance swimmer,
he was training for the NYC East River crossing. It was the
kids’ first time there, and they took advantage of the trip to
bird spot at the Central Park. More recently, in January 2014,
they went to Fernando de Noronha to celebrate Antonio’s
diving course graduation. “We had a baptism,” tells the
father, also a diver, like João and Joaquim – his 22-year-old
eldest, who joined them. They rented a buggy to explore
the islands. “Vacation is a time to do what we like best: to
be together and close to nature,” says Helio.
