A model of the cell, population growth and drug effect on the cell cycle. Nakano F.; Dias M. H.; Armelin H.A. Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades - USP We present a simple computer model of the cell and its use to test hypotheses and fit cell population growth, cell synchronization and drug effect. In this model a single cell is a probabilistic automaton with states G1, S, G2, M. Transitions between states are probabilistic given a parameter. At M (mitosis) cell divides in two daughter cells. H3 histone presence indicates that the cell is in mitosis and its signal is proportional to the quantity of mitotic cells. We show that dependence between the cells is necessary to properly fit desynchronization data and indicator degradation is necessary to fit cell cycle blockage data.
