BACKGROUND
Malignant neoplasm of breast sets a serious problem in the
current public health setting. This reality is justified by its
high incidence, morbidity and mortality, as well as the high
cost involved in your treatment.

OBJETIVE
Describe the epidemiological characteristics of women
breast cancer hospitalizations from 2008 to 2014
METHODS
Cross-sectional population-based study was conducted
with data collected in DataSUS database.
RESULTS
In the period 2008-2014, it were registered 271,362
hospitalizations resulting from breast malignancy in Brazil.

CONCLUSIONS
The age group between 45 to 49 years had a higher
incidence rate of breast cancer. This statistic supports the
American College recommendation of mammography
performance annually for women between 45 and 49 years
The Ministry of Health has implemented public policies for
cancer care in recent decades with the aim of reducing the
incidence and mortality rates related to malignant
neoplasm of breast
