Parents have enjoyed viewing their children’s autobiographies, documentaries and fables produced with sophisticated multimedia software such as Hyperstudio and Pinnacle Studio. EARJ parents are not the only ones who admire their children’s work. The claymation film, “The Two Headed Dragon,” produced by fourth graders, class of 2012, was chosen by a jury to be included in the Brazilian Animarte Festival (“hors concurs”), a national student animation festival. No small feat for an English-language video in a Brazilian festival. To view the clip, click on http://www.earj.com.br/videos/TheTwoHeadedDragonemail.mov (it may take a few minutes to be downloaded) or check-out the DVD at the LS Media Center. Congrats to the class of 2012, Barbara Artagão, Jennifer Carpenter, Beth Freitas, and Martha Serra. P TA R E M I N D E R T O A L L PA R E N T S Do You Want to be a Ham Radio Operator? Nosso número no cadastro no censo escolar é : 33065543. Ms Pepin PACIFIC BOYCHOIR ACADEMY Request for Home Stay during tour of Rio de Janeiro July 13-17, 2006 The Pacific Boychoir Academy of Oakland, California is seeking support with home stays for any or all of 50 choirboys during their tour in Rio de Janeiro on the weekend of July 14-17, 2006. The boys range in age from 9 to 18 years old, with the majority in the 12 to 14 years range. The PBA is a world-class choir with a fine reputation of excellence in music. Their repertoire ranges from the Baroque Period to American Spirituals. This is their 6th international tour, and the first to South America. See www.pacificboychoir.org In years past they have sung in France, The Czech republic, Austria, Germany, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. They regularly sing with the San Francisco Symphony under the direction of conductors such as Michael Tilsen Thomas and Kurt Masur. On the evening of July 13, the choir will perform in Ipanema at Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Paz with the National Symphony Orchestra singing the Mozart Coronation Mass. They will perform the same program at the Candelaria Cathedral on July 14 and finally in Niteroi on the morning of July 16. The boys leave for Aracaju on the morning of July 17. The responsibilities for hosting the boys would be minimal; mainly, to provide meals and a place to sleep during their stay. They have daytime activities and evening concerts scheduled. There is one evening that they could spend with the host families, Saturday, July 15. Primarily, we hope for the boys to have some exposure to local families as part of their cultural exchange. We would be delighted to talk with anyone that might be willing to host the choir and details can be discussed before a firm commitment is made.
