G.L. Teixeira is a native of the Brazilian Sertão, born in a little city called Frei Paulo, within the state of Sergipe. In the decade of 70 he moved to Rio de Janeiro. In arts he has the grade of auto-didactical. Nowadays, Gervásio is a fine artist and designer with more than 30 years of experience and more than 50 individual and collective exhibitions in Brazil and other countries. His activity in France is highlighted as holder of student allowance from the French Government in the years of 81 / 82 in the Fine Arts National School of Paris (École National Superieux de Beaux-Arts de Paris), in the atelier of mural painting of the artist Olivier Debré. During his stay in France he has painted five murals in the City of Soucy en Brie gaining a large repercussion among the inhabitants of this community. The herein referred project was also followed up by the assistant artist of the atelier Patrick Ramette. In Paris, he has held various individual and collective exhibitions with highlight for the one of Cité des Arts (Studio of the French Government External Affairs Ministry) where he had an atelier. Special reference is also made for the Galerie de La Défense, Galeria Debret de Paris. In the city of Herblay, he has exhibited a big set of his works, besides participating in the debate week about Brazilian culture, where he has pronounced the conversation about the theme. Back to Brazil, he has continued his activity as an artist exhibiting in various cultural spots as Gallery of the Theatre of Maison de France, Gallery Ana Maria Niemeyer, Gallery of the Culture Foundation of the Federal District among many others. Active in the reflection concerning the ecological issues since the decade of 70, he has made in 1992 during the “RIO 92 Conference”, a 140 square meters long panel in the city of Joinville, which theme addressed the removal of the pollution from the Cachoeira River which crosses the city. In 1994 in Rio, in the corner of Uruguaina Street and Buenos Aires Street in the City of Rio de Janeiro, he has painted a Mural of 500 square meters, the “Réquiem para a Floresta”. With the same name he has illustrated the book “Réquiem para a Floresta, Canção para Chico Mendes” with poetry of Dalva Lazaroni, in honor of Chico Mendes, which book was released during Rio 92 Conference, which has been distributed to the ambassadors, chief of State and other authorities present in the event. Highlighting the date 15 years after the murder of Chico Mendes, in 2003, he has held the exhibition of the 33 original drawings in honor of Chico Mendes in the Tiradentes Palace in Rio de Janeiro, opened by the Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil with a catalogue re-publishing the book “Réquiem para a Floresta, Canção para Chico Mendes” of 1992. Exhibition of the 53 posters concerning the Pan-American Games Rio 2007 in the Fnac Forum in Rio de Janeiro. The presentation of the show was written by the Brazilian Volley Team coach, Bernardinho.
