Welcome to participate in samba dance contest
“Musa do Carnaval Bar Brasil Estocolmo 2015”.
• The contest takes part on the cruise ship M / S Galaxay (Silja Line)
at the event “Carnival Cruise 2014” – November 21st–22nd in 2014.
• The contest is solo dance in Brazilian samba for female dancers.
Pricing
• 1st prize
A trip to Rio de Janeiro, and participating as “Musa do Carnaval” in“Carnaval Estocolmo 2015”
– the greatest and biggest indoor carnival in Scandinavia – Saturday, March 7, promoted by Bar Brasil.
The prize also including a visit to the samba school GRES Salgueiro during your trip to Rio de Janeiro.
• 2nd Prize: 3000 SEK and two tickets to Carnaval Estocolmo 2015
+ travelcosts and hotel if you live outside of Stockholm.
• 3rd Prize: 1500 SEK and two tickets to Carnaval Estocolmo 2015
+ travelcosts and hotel if you live outside of Stockholm.
• Honorary Prize of 800 SEK to the dancer who has the most beautiful and finest costume “fantasia”
+ 2 tickets to Carnaval Estocolmo 2015.
Who can participate?
Female dancers resident in Scandinavia or the Baltic states.
A permanent residence permit is needed. Minimum age is 18 years old.
How does the contest work?
The contest will take place Saturday afternoon on 22 November.
• If there are many entries, we will make a qualifying competition earlier, the same day, on the cruising.
The dancers will perform to their own selected “Sambas de Enredos” (the music must be taken from
the Grupo Especial in Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo between the years 2000–2014). The performance is
maximum 3 minutes.
• In the semifinal attend a maximum of 10 dancer.
• The dance will be performanced to LIVE BATUCADA with the group Maravilha do Samba conducted
by Serrinha Raiz - Musical Director for G.R.E.S. Unidos da Tijuca.
• The competition is held under the contest forms you find in the samba schools in Rio de Janeiro.
• Each performance is maximum 3 minutes.
• Dance steps are divided into two parts where the first part consists of dancing to slow batucada
“passinho” in about 1 minute. Percussionists make a break and then begins the second part consisting
of fast carnival samba, “Samba-Enredo” for about 2 minutes.
• 3 dancers advance to the final.
• The finals are implemented in the same way as above with two dance elements.
• After the final the jury award the winners.
Competition criteria
The jury is graded according to the following four criteria:
• Dance Technique “Samba no Pé”
• Creativity
• Charming
• Overview of dancing and performance in combination with the costume “a fantasia.” *)
*) A great costume is a plus. But a good dancer in a simple costume is valued higher
than a “weak” dancers in a high-class outfit.
The Jury
Jury consists of four judges:
• Isa Praia – Salvador, Bahia (Lund / Sweden)
Samba Dancer, Zumba- and fitness instructor. A strong sambaprofile in the south of Sweden where she
has been a dancer and instructor in brazilian dance since 1994. Isa has also been working with dance
in Europe, Africa and the United States.
• Lady de Padua – Belo Horizonte, Brazil (Södertälje / Sweden)
Samba Dancers and zumbainstructor.
Rainha do Carnaval 1991, Belo Horizonte MG, 1991. Dancer in the group Viva Brasil (Stockholm).
• Viviane Mulata – São Paulo, Brazil (Södertälje / Sweden)
Samba dancer, born in São Paulo, where she has received the following awards: Rainha da Bateria,
Madrinha da Bateira, Musa da Escola. Participated with G.R.E.S. Portela, Rio de Janeiro, Carnival
2014.
• Hudson Luiz – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Officiell singer in G.R.E.S. Estação Primeira de Manguira (Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
In a judgment results where it is equal between two participants Bar Brasil's president
Johan von Friedrichs casting vote.
Registration
Registration has to be done before November 14th to Bar Brasil Estocolmo.
Send name, date of birth, full address and at least one image in full-length as well as a portrait

You will receive a confirmation notification after the registration.
All contest participants pay their own travel and manage their own cabin booking by Silja Line's

Registration fee
It costs 300 SEK to participate in the competition.
