Un día como los otros, Lino Paes Rodrigues llega a su
escritorio de empresario inmobiliario sabiendo que ya nada
bueno le espera. Pero cuando abre una carta personal, se da
cuenta de que al final su vida puede cambiar completamente
ese día: un tío abuelo al que no ve desde hace muchos años
acaba de morir dejándole en herencia una enorme finca en el
Alentejo, junto a Elvas. “No es bueno remover el pasado. ¿Por
qué? Porque se puede descubrir la verdad”. Eso es lo que Lino
debería haber intuido cuando esa inesperada herencia le llevó
de vuelta a un lugar y a un tiempo que ya había olvidado y
donde encontraría memorias y fantasmas que no debería querer
despertar.

A day like any other, Lino Paes Rodrigues, arrives at his desk at an
estate agency knowing there is nothing good in store for him. But
when he opens a personal letter he realizes that there could finally
be a complete change in his life that very day; a great-uncle he
hasn’t seen for years has just died and left him an enormous country
estate in Alentejo near Elvas in his will. “It’s not a good idea to dig up
the past. Why not? Because you could find the truth”. This is what
Lino must realize when this unexpected inheritance takes him back
to a place and a time he had already forgotten, where he will find
memories and ghosts which he would do better to leave well alone.
