Transarte Opens In Sao Paulo With Works By American Artist

A new place in São Paulo – Brazil, opened in September with intents to receive
artists and international art. The inaugural exhibition is the American Timothy
Cummings, after more than a year in Brazil, he produced approximately 20 works
gathered in the exhibition, with text presentation of Jorge Colli. Timothy shows
acrylic paintings on wood and paper works - work on technique in digital print
impressions.
Cummings’s works refers to the project that seeks the gallery to oxygenate the art circuit.
The definition of the artist by the British magazine Rooms gives a clue to the freedom that
you must see at his works to possibilities for contemporary narratives: "Painter, filmmaker,
sculptor, but above all, self-taught artist with a clear focus on the agenda of living strange
and mysterious things. Catchy themes like childhood, the macabre, beauty and decay are
explored in his work by a dense layer of fascination and madness".

Transarte é inaugurado em São Paulo com obras do
artista Timothy Cummings
Local para realizar ações expositivas, receber artistas residentes, promover obras sem
referência local, que desafiem temáticas e os limites da representação, assim é o Transarte,
novo espaço paulistano concebido por Lena Peres Oliveira e inaugurado em setembro na
capital paulista. A exposição inaugural é do norte-americano Timothy Cummings que,
depois de mais de um ano de Brasil, produziu as cerca de 20 obras reunidas na mostra, com
texto de apresentação de Jorge Colli. São pinturas em acrílico sobre madeira e obras em
papel – intervenções em impressões na técnica digital print.
A obra de Cummings é referencial ao projeto que busca oxigenar o circuito artístico. A
definição do artista pela revista inglesa Rooms dá uma pista da liberdade que o espaço
pretende abrir ao introduzir novas possibilidades às narrativas contemporâneas: “Pintor,
cineasta, escultor, mas, acima de tudo, artista autodidata com foco claro na agenda de
coisas vivas estranhas e misteriosas. Temas cativantes como a infância, o macabro, a
beleza e a decadência são explorados em sua obra por uma densa camada de fascinação e
loucura”.
