Degree of adjectives superlative forms
Superlativo de Superioridade
Usamos o grau do superlativo, quando
queremos destacar uma pessoa ou coisa em um
grupo de três ou mais.
Mary is the most beautiful girl in this
classroom.
• Há algumas maneiras para formarmos o
superlativo e são elas:
1. Quando o adjetivo tiver uma só sílaba,
acrescentaremos the antes do adjetivo e o
sufixo est no seu final
small - the smallest
bright - the brightest
Gloria is the youngest girl in this classroom.

2. Quando o adjetivo tiver três sílabas ou mais,
acrescentaremos the most antes dele:
beautiful - the most beautiful
intelligent - the most intelligent

3. Caso o adjetivo termine em y precedido por
consoante, tiraremos o y e acrescentaremos
iest.
easy - the easiest
pretty - the prettiest
English is the easiest language all over the
world.

4. Adjetivos terminados em e, somente é
necessário acrescentar o sufixo st para formar
o superlativo de superioridade.
nice – the nicest
large – the largest
Lucy is the nicest woman in our store.

5. Quando o adjetivo terminar em consoante,
vogal mais consoante (C+V+C), dobraremos a
última consoante e, depois, acrescentaremos
est.
big - the biggest
fat - the fattest
Natal is the hottest city in Brazil.

6. Há alguns adjetivos que formam o superlativo
de maneira irregular, memorize-os:
good - the best
bad - the worst
far - the farthest/furthest
little - the least
much, many, a lot of - the most

formado, colocando as palavras the least (o
menos) antes do adjetivo.
