Preface The Luso-Brazilian Conference of Sustainable Construction Materials has been held in Guimarães, Portugal, from 5 to 7 March 2014. It was the first edition of a future series, taking into account the success of the event. Nowadays, the field of Sustainable Construction Materials is essential for the construction industry and sustainable development of the countries. It is important the reuse of waste materials and to obtain functional materials capable of improving the environment quality. It is important that the construction industry is innovative and accepts new solutions for solving problems with several years. The Luso-Brazilian Conference of Sustainable Construction Materials brought experts to present results of researches carried out and discuss prospects for future work related to sustainable materials and their importance for obtaining a construction with the highest sustainability. The realization of this event made the city of Guimarães a privileged place for the exchange of ideas and experiences between experts from Portugal and Brazil, promoting further research in this field and increasing the importance of using sustainable materials. The main topics of congress were: Materials and Energy, Materials and Residues, Natural Materials and Materials and Repair. This book contains the best papers selected and reviewed by the Scientific Committee between more than 200 presented on the conference. The organization of this event requires support from many people. We wish to thank to all those who helped us. The papers included in these proceedings were reviewed carefully by the Scientific Committee, to which we want to express our gratitude for their time and effort. We are very grateful to the authors for their valuable contributions to the success of Luso-Brazilian Conference on Sustainable Construction Materials.
