The session is partly motivated by a recent article in Physics Today September 2011 (http://dx.doi.org/10.1063/PT.3.1250), entitled: ”Brazil aims for its science to have greater impact” . This special session will gather people representing research institutes operating on the borderline between academia and industry such as SINTEF and IFE in Norway, spin-off companies, established industries such as Petrobras and Statoil, as well as university based researchers. Practical information to participants The workshop will take place in Hotel Armacao, at the beach in the beautiful village of Porto de Galinhas which is located about 50 km south of Recife, Brazil. (www.hotelarmacao.com.br). Please contact this hotel directly for your own room reservations. Flights directly to Recife from Europe are most easily done by airline TAP via Lisboa. Recife may be also be reached from Europe or USA via several alternative routes. For further information about the workshop, and for submission of contributions, contact Giovani Vasconcelos at [email protected] or Jon Otto Fossum at [email protected] Registration deadline for submission of contributed abstracts is December 15, 2011. Submission should include title + coauthors/affiliations + ½ page abstract, and wish for oral or poster presentation.
