This meeting is being co-organized with the Division of Electrochemistry and Electroanalytical Chemistry of the Brazilian Chemical Society. Angra lies in the center of the Costa Verde (Green Coast) in the state of Rio de Janeiro, one of the most beautiful regions of the country. The Costa Verde is characterized by a mountainous lushly green landscape just by the sea. With several bays and many islands, including 193 km2 Ilha Grande, Angra has a great number of beaches to be explored. Not too far away is the historic city of Paraty. The meeting will provide an opportunity for an international group of researchers to present their advances in the preparation and basic electrochemical characterization of different advanced carbon materials as well as their many applications. Robert H. Hurt, Brown University, Providence, USA Prashant Kamat, University of Notre Dame, South Bend, USA Richard L. McCreery, National Institute for Nanotechnology, Alberta, Canada Christoph E. All abstracts must be submitted via the online submission system that will open on 20 September 2014. The deadline for abstract submission will be 11 November 2014. The abstract should be in English and should not exceed one page (including figures, tables and Organizing Committee references). Manuel Andrés Rodrigo, Spain Alison Downard, New Zealand Juan Manuel Peralta Hernández, Mexico Romeu C. Rocha-Filho, Brazil (Co-Chair) Greg M. Swain, USA and Brazil (Co-Chair) Pat Unwin, UK Scientific Scope of Conference This meeting will feature keynote and contributed lectures on recent advances in the preparation, electrochemical characterization and application of advanced carbon materials (e.g., diamond, diamond-like carbons, graphene, fullerenes, carbon nanotubes). Applications of these materials in electroanalysis, biosensing, electrosynthesis, environmental remediation, energy conversion and storage, etc. will be covered. The meeting will start with a state-of-the-art overview of advanced carbon materials by keynote speakers, followed by invited lectures, oral presentations and posters.
