Courses with theoretical activities, lasting up to four hours, which offer training and

Where is the capital?

Innovative enterprises with great potential for growth demand third-party funding, so entrepreneurs must
learn how to raise additional capital so as to speed up the growth of their businesses. During this course,
Marcelo Nakagawa will show entrepreneurs how funding works, where to seek it, and how to increase
their chances to obtain investment. The course will talk about funding from BNDES, Finep. CNPq, BNB, Basa,
FAPs, Senai, Apex-Brasil and Sebrae, in addition to private investors, including angel investors, accelerators
and risk capital, in Brazil and worldwide. See summary.

How to plan and implement a reference incubator

The course proposes discussing a methodology for planning and implementing a successful incubator,
based on the Cerne model. Built from good management business incubators practices in the country, the
model was capable of meeting and identifying the critical processes to the success of these environments.
Therefore, the course will address the concept of business incubator and its differences in relation to other
environments, such as business accelerators, co-working and science parks. Additionally, the course will
present tools to model a business incubator in tune with the region’s innovation Ecosystem. See summary.

How to access venture capital in business incubators and science parks:
Primatec case

The mini course will present the model for the relationship between business incubator networks and
parks with venture capital funds. The Primatec Fund case will be used as an example. This fund is designed
for investments in innovative enterprises, selected among incubated and graduate businesses, and
supported by the Primatec Network’s business incubators and parks. The mini-course will show business
incubators and science parks how to obtain earnings from the high rates of return that may be achieved
by venture capital in an innovative model in the Brazilian scenario. See summary.

InovAtiva Brasil: training, mentoring
and innovative business connection

Based on the methodology of InovAtiva Brasil – a program of the Ministry of Development, Industry and
Foreign Trade (MDIC) carried out by Wenovate, which aims at training, mentoring and innovative business
connection – management tools for startups will be presented in an entrepreneur-to-entrepreneur
language. Connection with investors will be one of the many topics addressed. See summary.

What are the success factors in the management of incubators?
2 pm - 6 pm
Business incubators have raised the interest of state and city governments and are considered as a means
to promote the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. However, in many cases, mistakes already well
known to the most experienced managers of business incubators are made and end up leading to below
expected results.
As a result, this mini course will address the critical factors for the success of a business incubator, from
the planning phase until its effective operation. It will also address the critical success factors during the
operation of the incubator related to the manager’s three layers of operation: project, incubation process

How to monitor incubated companies efficiently

The course will present and discuss the procedures, tools and criteria to evaluate the evolution stage of
incubated companies based on the Cerne model.
Monitoring mechanisms are essential to determine the proper time for projects to graduate or terminate
their incubation and also to understand the difficulties and potentialities of each business, allowing the
execution of initiatives that promote the rapid and successful development of companies. See summary.

divided in two phases: the first with training on the transfer of technology and innovation management,

the second phase will present the best practices for cooperation between Brazil and the European Union.

Cross-innovation: path to the incubators of the future

actors for cooperation on innovation with Europe

Organized by the European embassies, by Eurassex (Platform for access to information and service to
researchers) and the European delegation, the Tour of Brazil aims to make the European ST&I system
more visible to Brazilian partners and open new possibilities for cooperation in the area, by strengthening
bilateral relations. The Tour will be divided into two sessions. The morning meeting includes presentations
of EU member country programs that promote ST&I cooperation, as well as programs financed by the
European Commission focused on the 2020 horizon.

Plenary Session 5 – Global connections: effective
approaches to development cooperation in ST&I

Organized jointly by Anprotec and the B.BICE+, this session provides an overview of the paths and the
lessons learnt on international cooperation from different innovation systems. The internationalization
process for research programs and the mobility of innovative companies prove the effectiveness of
cooperation between institutions from different countries for the development of Science, Technology
and Innovation. Therefore, examples from Brazil, Europe and other countries will be presented, aiming on
proposing recommendations for innovation actors interested in international cooperation.

The ceremony marks the end of the activities of the Anprotec Seminar, when participants make a
general balance of the program and present prospects for upcoming events. It’s also the time of
the official presentation of the headquarters that will host the XXV Anprotec Seminar, to be held
in Cuiabá (Mato Grosso), in 2015.

Farewell Dinner
8 pm
It is the time of fraternization between the participants, authorities and representatives of the
local innovation system. Opened in October 2002, the São José Liberto space, which will host
the closing dinner, is a cultural, touristic and commercial icon that is part of the architectural
history of Belém. The main building dates back to 1749 and built by Capuchin friars of Nossa
Senhora da Piedade to be the São José convent. Today, the space is home to the Pará Museum
of Gems and the House of Artisans.

Activity that allows participants to learn about the areas, businesses, laboratories, programs
and projects developed by the local organizer, the Guamá Science and Technology Park. PCT
Guamá is an important environment to support the creation and consolidation of high-tech,
environmentally friendly companies in the state of Pará. Today, in addition to its business
incubator, the PCT Guamá is home to several projects and laboratories that are driving
innovative entrepreneurship in the region, including the Vale Institute of Technology, the
National Institute for Space Research, the Agri-Food Center for Bioactive Compounds of the
Amazon, and the Center for Advanced Biodiversity Studies, among others.
