HERCULANO is located in one of the most important industrial areas in the North
of Portugal, about 40 km south of Porto and was ESTABLISHED in 1969. The origins
of HERCULANO, however, go back to the beginning of the 20th CENTURY, when a small
workshop was established to manufacture small agricultural machinery. The workshop
was developed in parallel with the market requirements and the modernization of agriculture
until, in 1969, it produced the first farm trailer, one of its main products.
Following this strong growth, in 1982 is made the first export and in 1986 Herculano
was officially recognized as a LEADER in the manufacture and sales of agricultural
semi-trailers in Portugal, leadership of which it still holds.
In May 1997, HERCULANO was acquired by the Ferpinta Group and the Holding Group
"FERPINTA SGPS" held 80% of capital that date. With great experience in the production
and marketing of steel, steel pipes, structural steel pipes and plate formats, the Ferpinta
Group brought a new dynamic, not only to the financial aspect but also to the strategic
view of the market. This was achieved trough PROFESSIONALISM, PRODUCT QUALITY,
SERVICE and constant INNOVATION. The results were fast to appear. In 1998, HERCULANO
was the 1st Portuguese company to receive the QUALITY seal from the“Portuguese
Institute of Quality” on its FRONT LOADERS.
In December 2005, continuing the company's consolidation and expansion project,
the "FERPINTA SGPS” (now owning 100% of the shares), increased the Social Capital
of the company to 3.100.000,00 Euros.
HERCULANO is currently one of the LARGEST agricultural equipment PRODUCERS, with
a total area of 48.000 m2 (31.000 m2 covered), employing 210 workers, with an average
annual turnover of EUR 15.000.000.

We have eleven quarries with an extraction capacity of 23,100 m³ (cum) of commercial
marble blocs per year and four marble processing units which allow to produce 480.000m²
(sq.) of sawn/polished slabs and 220,000 m² (sq.) of sawn/polished tiles.
We are able to deliver an extraordinary variety of crystalline marbles in different shades:
• Roses, Creams and Whites.
• Black and Grey.
The Portuguese marbles has a thin and a uniform crystal lattice which provides a natural
and intense brightness, combined with an excellent hardness, which allows an easy
shaping.

In 1961,the biggest and most prestigious canning companies from the Algarve, “Centeno
Cumbrera & Rodriguez” and “Raul Folque & Filhos, Limitada”, both with head offices
in Vila Real de Santo Antonio, promoted a merging process which would culminate in
the constitution of the major Portuguese Canning Group, which they registered under
the name COFACO.
The company COFISA, conservas de peixe da Figueira, S.A. was founded on one of April
1981, established in Buarcos, sítio Srª da Nazaré. The canning activity started in this site
in 1950 under the name of Conservas Avis, then to Bordalo Franco e Cª, and finally
to COFISA that on five of Setembro of 1992 was moved to new premises in the
embankment of the fishing port of Figueira da Foz.
In the beginning of that decade, due to a scarcity of tuna in the Algarve Sea, the canning
activity was displaced to the Azores archipelago, a place of privileged passage for tuna,
on its migration routes through the oceans.
The company COFISA, a national leader in the manufacture of canned fish, specializes
in the manufacture of canned sardines and mackerel, mainly for the domestic market
and Italian.
Currently, between the industrial poles of COFACO placed upon the islands of S.Miguel
(Rabo de Peixe) and Pico(Madalena), over 600 people work with more than 15 thousand
tonnes of tuna per year. The company today has a leading position upon the national
fish canning market (tuna,sardines, mackerel and specialities) with a market share higher
than 40% with popular brands such as “Bom Petisco”, “Tenório”, “Lider”, “Pitéu”,
“Risonho”, “Catita”,”Zarco” and “Bom Amigo”.
Since 2004, developing new products aimed at new markets with a view to developing
markets such as U.S., Puerto Rico, Algeria, France, among others.
With about 160 employees and a capacity of 2000 boxes 100cans/day the COFISA S.A.
