PROGRAM AGENDA 14 - 15 May, 2014 Windsor Barra Hotel | Avenida Lucio Costa, 2630 - Barra da Tijuca | Rio de Janeiro, Brasil Title: Stratigraphic Traps and Play Concepts in Deep Water Settings Objective The continued expansion of petroleum exploration and development in deep water globally during the past decade has resulted in significant oil and gas discoveries. Most of the fields in deep water basins consist of fourway or combined three-way closures. However, significant discoveries around the African margin have renewed exploration focus on stratigraphic traps across the equatorial margin. Much of the key work has been accomplished with improved 3D seismic data resolution and imaging, better seismic attribute analysis, and new concepts in petroleum systems analysis. GTW Brasil 2014 follows the 12th Brazilian Licensing Round 2013, which opened 110 exploration blocks in new frontier areas in the São Francisco, Parnaíba, Paraná, Parecis and Acre-Madre de Dios basins; and, 130 exploratory blocks in the mature basins of Recôncavo and Sergipe-Alagoas. Join the GTW Brasil discussion with leading operators in Latin America, Africa, and Gulf of Mexico. Gain greater understanding of geological and geophysical attributes of stratigraphic traps in deep water settings. Learn more from equatorial margin exploration analogues. The goal of this GTW is to develop new knowledge of stratigraphic traps and play concepts in deep water settings. Experienced practitioners and researchers will participate in lively discussions to share both personal experiences and best practices in applying geology and geophysics to the challenges of exploration, appraisal, development drilling, and reservoir characterization and simulation. The workshop will conclude with discussions in which lessons learned are applied to future endeavors. To facilitate the exchange of ideas, there will be no abstracts or publications released from this symposium. Participants will have many opportunities to network and to discuss with fellow practitioners.
