She currently serves as her networks special reporter on emerging events in Latin America. Centre for International Studies CIS Development Seminar Carvalho has interviewed thinkers as well as political leaders across contemporary Latin America, including Presidents Evo Morales of Bolivia, Michelle Bachelet of Chile, Nestor Kirschner of Argentina and Luis Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil. As a print journalist, Carvalho has written for <i>Correio da Manhã, Jornal do Brasil, Veja, Revista Afinal, O Globo</i> and <i>O Estado de São Paulo</i>. She was a correspondent for <i>Veja Magazine</i> and <i>Jornal do Brasil in Paris</i> in 197071. Her prizes include VII Prêmio Abril de Jornalismo and VII Prêmio Vladimir Herzog for Amnisty and Human Rights. Carvalho co-authored the series <i>Os Anos 70</i> writing about Journalism on TV along this decade, and she translated from Spanish to Portuguese the novel <i>El Vuelo del Gato</i> by the Cuban writer Abel Prieto. She is concluding the researches for a new project -<i>Lessons from a Plural Movement</i> - a book about the results, new tendencies and proposals that have arisen in the last 5 years of struggle against neo-liberal globalization, focusing upon the first and largest assembly of a global left, the World Social Forum. Carvalho's past television experience includes research at the Centre de Documentation de la Radio Telévision Algerienne, in Algiers. She also worked as Editor of the evening news at TV Globo Network, Executive Editor of Journalism at TV-Bandeirantes Network and documentarist for different Brazilian channels. She wrote several scripts for a series broadcast by the public education network of Brazil. Carvalho has studied Journalism at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and Mass Communication with Edgard Morin at École Pratique d´Hautes Études, Paris. Co-Sponsored by Latin American Studies
