Dhaliwal*, J. Brett Davies, David A. N. Jacobson Manitoba Hydro, Winnipeg, Canada Richard Gonzales – Excel Engineering, Minneapolis, USA • País Canada / USA Objetivo After briefly presenting the Manitoba Hydro electrical system and highlighting some of the difficulties experienced under high import / export conditions (namely that the loss of any one of the interconnection lines without remedial action can result in cascading tripping of all the remaining ties between the Manitoba Hydro system and the U.S., Ontario and Saskatchewan systems, resulting in islanding of the Manitoba Hydro system), this paper describes the use of an integrated AC/DC special protection scheme to maintain system stability following loss of any of the Manitoba to U.S. tie lines. The importance of the described SPS translates into sustained high export levels and corresponding gains. The SPS has shown high reliability and maintainability degrees through appropriate design and triplication of equipments. Objetivo Use of an Integrated AC/DC Special Protection Scheme at Manitoba Hydro Objetivo Destaque Dúvidas 1. Que tipo de dispositivo e qual o tempo de latência das informações de fluxo? 2. Qual é a ação do Controller para múltiplas contingências? 3. Se o SPS não utiliza o sistema de votação e as informações são duplicadas, qual a vantagem de ser triplicado os controllers? Conclusões Respostas às questões do REP • Número da questão 2.3 • Questão Papers 203 and 206 address the importance of Special Protection Schemes (SPS) for the interconnected operation of large HV systems (AC and/or DC). Both recognise that reliability of protection, control and telecommunication equipment plays a pivotal role in SPS performance. This has led to duplication and, in one case, triplication of devices. • How important are communication issues (availability, reliability, etc.) for the implementation of SPS? Have any risks been identified involving overfunction in case of duplication/triplication of equipments? Have any misoperations been experienced that have had an influence on decisions concerning systems’ maintenance? • Resposta:
