Combining a psycholinguistic and sociological approach, I study the impact that certain translation strategies have on the cognitive effort that viewers employ when watching subtitled audiovisual products, as well as the assessments that viewers make of the strategies used. I work closely with the translation industry and the results of this study have already shown to have an impact on the industry and have altered the strategies employed by translation companies. Co-­‐ordination of a team of part-­‐time and hourly-­‐paid language tutors to ensure consistency across the programme and to deliver a high-­‐quality syllabus; •
