Portugal and Italy The course will have a flexible approach, according to the reality of each country. The focus will be to train business advisors to deal with other people, to know how to transmit the CBBA concept than to understand what this concept is. Newsletter Issue 2... The BEST FORM project focuses on enhancing the skills of business advisers dealing with immigrant entrepreneurs and also on training new business advisers within the immigrant communities where they live and work. These objectives will be achieved through a course composed of 7 modules, to be held in March 2012, addressed to new and existing business advisors from national immigrant-oriented associations, in order to test and validate the content adaptation of Community-Based Business Advise (CBBA) methodology. By training business advisers in immigrant-oriented associations, BEST FORM will improve immigrants’ access to business support services embedded in their own cultural/ethnic background, enhancing the potential efficiency of such service. Dates and venues The BEST FORM course will be delivered in Portugal and Italy by three partners – SOCIEDADE PORTUGUESA DE INOVAÇÃO (SPI - Portugal), ASSOCIAÇÃO DE SOLIDARIEDADE INTERNACIONAL (ASI - Portugal) and OXFAM (Italy). Dates: For SPI and ASI: 03/03, 10/03, 17/03 and 31/03. For OXFAM: 07/03, 14/03, 17/03, 21/03, 24/03, 28/03 e 31/03. Venues: For SPI and ASI: Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa, 1376, Porto – Portugal. For OXFAM: Via C. Concini, 19, Arezzo – Italy. Course target groups: (a) In Portugal: the focus would be on directors of immigrantoriented associations (especially those of other Portuguese speaker countries), as they could pass the message into the organization in a more effective way; (b) In Italy: the main focus would be in intercultural mediators, Italian business advisers and community leaders. Dimension of the course target group: minimum 10 The course objective: to improve business adviser’s skills – such as client-advisory skills, communication skills, confidence building, business, financial and marketing knowledge, among others - helping them getting to “hard-to-reach” clients and overcoming the obstacles stemming from the mixed embededdness to which immigrants are subjected (structural factors, cultural conditions and personal characteristics). Course modules: Making Business Support Accessible to All Understanding Business Introduction to Business Start-Up Working with Clients (Advisory Skills) Finance for Business Advisors Marketing for Business Advisors Spreadsheet for Business Trainers’ professional profile: persons experienced in immigration issues, business support, IT and training course Course total duration: 30 hours.
