Baass, K-P. Brand, M. Herzig • País: Suiça Objetivo • This paper considers both the today’s life-time maintenance strategies for legacy SA systems and the tomorrow’s ones for IEC 61850 based SA systems. • It compares both strategies and make conclusions for the trend in lifetime maintenance of SA systems. Destaques The SA system life cycle Today’s Maintenance of Legacy SAS • Typical life-time of equipment in the substation General Maintenance Strategies • Keep the system documentation up-to-date • Analyze the data provided by self-supervision for • Fast failure detection • Detailed and comprehensive information • Appropriate actions • Take preventive actions within predefined time intervals • Internal tests • Test with external test equipment •Tests without or with the switchgear Tomorrow’s Maintenance of IEC61850 SAS • Schematic diagram of control levels in SA and the connections in between Characteristics of IEC61850 based SAS • Station bus, process bus, GOOSE, unconventional instrument transformers • SCL provides a lot of benefits for the tomorrow’s life-time maintenance • Powerful self-supervision and advanced test tools based on SCL • Less periodic tests with longer intervals might be applied Comparison of Life-time Maintenance today and tomorrow • Actions in life-time maintenance of SA systems today and tomorrow Dúvidas • No questions Conclusões • • • • Both for legacy systems and IEC 61850 based systems life-time management strategies are definable. The first ones need a reasonable effort because of the lot of non-standardized actions, limited self-supervision and paper-based documentation restricting the use of tools for life-time maintenance. IEC 61850 based systems provide all information from the configuration to selfsupervision in a standardized form. This standardization and the on-line documentation are in favor of powerful tools for life-time maintenance. The life-time maintenance performance will be further improved by Edition 2 of IEC 61850 [5] scheduled for 2010. It will provide more standardized data, more version identification indices and the clarification of the Mod/Beh data attribute values test and test-blocked from Edition 1. Utilities are getting a lot of new maintenance features with IEC61850 based SA systems. Maintenance issues, testing methods and tools should be considered when evaluating SA systems. The result should guide the utilities to use the right methods, tools and training for their maintenance tasks. Respostas às questões do REP • Número da questão: 1.5 - Monitoring of system performance - Several papers mention the continuous analysis of the performance of protections and automation systems as a key element of the utility maintenance. • Questão: Which database, experiences or applications allow to give recommendations for the maintenance strategy of SAS? What are the resulting recommendations or conclusions? Respostas às questões do REP • Número da questão: 1.6 - Organisation of SAS maintenance - The organisation of SAS maintenance, including its outsourcing, depends both on the characteristics of the systems and on overall strategies defined by each utility. • Questão: Which methods and organisation have been adopted by utilities and by vendors to maintain conventional SAS and Digital SAS and what are the differences in the approaches for the maintenance of these two types of SAS? Respostas às questões do REP • Número da questão: 1.7 - Training and documentation - There seems to be a consensus concerning the need of updated, comprehensive and easily accessible documentation related to DSAS. The complexity of these systems also requires a high level of training. • Questão: In this context, which efforts are put into place by the industry aiming at guaranteeing a satisfying level of both documentation and training? Respostas às questões do REP • Número da questão: 1.8 - Version management - The management of configurations, settings, firmware and hardware versions is identified in several papers as a key element for the management of the life-time maintenance of Substation Automation Systems. • Questão: Which approaches are used by the industry to meet this requirement? Which actions should be put into place by vendors and/or by utilities in order to keep the control and overview of deployed hardware and software versions? Respostas às questões do REP • Número da questão: 1.12 • Questão: Remote Access - Which use of remote access for the maintenance of DSAS is possible and how is remote supervision used at this moment? What are the constraints identified by users and vendors?
