Open Visiting Professor Positions (Assistant Professor Level) in Mathematics at
the Federal University of Amazonas in Manaus (UFAM)

A public call for filling two positions has opened; candidates from all areas of Mathematics are
welcome to apply.
Description of the Positions

The positions are temporary for one year, renewable for up to maximum of four years
Teaching duty is around 8-10 hours per week
No portuguese knowledge is required
The starting date for the positions is flexible
Candidates are required to have their PhD for at least two years at the time of the signature
of the contract

Salary and Salary Progression

Salary: around 10.500 Brazilian Real Gross (2625 EUR per month gross (2200 EUR net) at
current exchange rate), with 13.5 salaries per year
Possibilities to increment salary by 325 EUR per month, by the teaching of a number of
mini-courses
Cost of Living in Manaus
•
Expect around 450 EUR for a two-bedroom apartment of around 50m2 and 600 EUR for a
three-bedroom apartment of around 70m2 in a good area of the city in a block of buildings
with a concierge service and amenities such as a swimming pool, a playground, a
basketball court and a common event area
