International Academic Mobility Program
Foreign Students who wish to study at UFRRJ
A foreign student who is interested in studying at Universidade Federal
Rural do Rio de Janeiro must comply with legal and institutional requirements.
In addition, he/she must have oral and written proficiency in Portuguese, so that
he/she is able to follow all the classes.
Undergraduate and graduate students, regularly enrolled at a foreign
university with which UFRRJ has terms of academic cooperation, can apply for
the interchange program.
As aforementioned, the foreign student must, at first, verify if his/her
institution has an academic agreement with UFRRJ. The foreign student must
attend to the demands required by his/her institution in order to have his
participation in the International Academic Mobility Program accepted. The
responsible official in the foreign institution for the student's international
mobility must contact "Pró-Reitoria de Graduação" (Dean of Undergraduate
Studies Office) at UFRRJ in order to take the necessary measures.
Required documents:
1. Copy of the passport
2. Application form
3. Original (updated) school report, in English and Portuguese
4. Enrollment document at a foreign institution
5. A letter of application, justifying the interest in the Academic Mobility
Program
In order to start studying during the second semester, the documents must
be sent from 01 until may 31.
In order to start studying during the first semester of the following year, the
documents must be sent from 01 until October 31.
It is important that students get informed about Brazilian legislation and
obtain the specific visa, since the entry of foreigners depends on the visa that will
be obtained in the Brazilian Consulate in the student's country of origin. UFRRJ
does not accept foreign students who do not have the Student Visa and health
care.

The required visa for those willing to study in Brazil is the temporary visa
granted to students, according to Brazilian legislation (Lei nº 6.815/1980, artigo
13, inciso IV).
UFRRJ will send the Acceptance Letter to the foreign institution where the
student is enrolled after he/she is admitted in the program.
The student's participation in the program will only be confirmed after
he/she presents the copy of the Student Visa and international health care.
