Projeto Landmarks in São Paulo
O projeto Landmarks in São Paulo teve como objetivo
principal criar um espaço de reflexão, em língua
estrangeira, sobre a cidade e seus lugares
emblemáticos, levando os alunos do 7o ano a
desenvolver representações sobre diversos espaços
públicos que fazem parte da vida cotidiana do
paulistano.
A partir dessa reflexão e do trabalho linguístico
desenvolvido em sala de aula, os alunos produziram
textos descritivos em inglês de marcos importantes de
São Paulo. Este trabalho resulta da compilação
desses textos acompanhados de fotos e/ou desenhos
também produzidos pelos alunos, que tiveram a
oportunidade de se envolver, ao mesmo tempo, na
(re)descoberta pessoal da cidade em que vivem.

Ibirapuera Park is a park localizated in São Paulo, Brazil. It’s
a beautiful park and it has a very big Green area. In the park
there are popular sports courts and a planetary. There is also a
good restaurant. It’s located on Pedro Alvares Cabral Avenue –
Moema, that’s located in the west area of the city .It’s open for
the public and the entrance, is free. It opens at 8:00 to 6:00.
The park was created in 1954 to provide a jogging and
walking area for the city. There you can have a picnic and play
some sports. The best days to visit the park are in the weekend
because is a great place to have fun and have some lazier.

PARQUE IBIRAPUERA – TEXTO 2
Ibirapuera Park is a park. It is big, beautiful, and full
of trees and with a big green area. In the park, there is: an
important art gallery (MAM) and a famous exhibition
center (OCA). There is also a famous sports court, a
beautiful lake, a popular auditorium, and restaurant. It is
located in Ibirapuera neighborhood in the South area of
the the city. It is open for the public. The entrance is free
and it is open from 5 AM to 24 AM.
The museum (MAM) was created in 1948 but the
building was built in 1958 to provide a modern collection
of art and a cultural center for the city. There you can see
paintings by Picasso, Salvador Dali, Joan Miró, Chagal,
Volpi, Di cavalcanti, etc. The best day to visit the museum
is on Sunday because it is free or when there are special
events. The museum is not open on Mondays.

Planetarium
The Planetarium is a study Center of astronomy. It is a
beautiful, modern and white place. In the museum there is a
powerful telescope. It is located inside Ibirapuera Park in the
west area of the city. It is open for the public. The entry is R$
5, 00 and R$2, 50 for students and it is open from 17 am to 24
pm.
The museum was created in 1972 to provide a famous study
center of astronomy and a cultural center of astronomy for the
city. There you can observe the sky. The best days to visit the
museum are every days.

Agua Branca Park is a big, beautiful, traditional and
arborous area. In the park, there is a lake and some ducks.
There are also some free animals and a playground. There are
some coconut water stands and a snack bar. It is located in
Agua Branca neighbordhood. It is open for everyone .The
entrance is free and is open all day long.
The park was created in 1929 to provide the city with a
green area. There you can have a picnic, see animals, play
sports, read, go for a walk with children and babies, visit the
small museum and go horse riding .The best days to visit the
park is weekends, because there is an organic fair and a special
place to practice taekwondo and to play chess .There are also
some musicians to entertain people.

Villa Lobos Park
The Vila Lobos Park is a big public park. It’s hectic on weekends, but
is very safe. It’s very wooded. There is a very beautiful orchid-house, a
playground and sports courts. The park open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. but in
the summer the park closes at the 7 p.m. The park is located in São Paulo,
in the Western part of the city, near Marginal Pinheiros, Jaguaré Bridge
and Ceagesp.
Around the park, there is a bicycle path, which is orange on the
map.

helping to raise ecological, cultural, educational and sports awareness.

Villa Lobos
The history of Villa lobos park is a little different for the others
parks. It is a big and beautiful area. In the park there are different
things,
The original design, prepared by the architect Decius Tozzy,
predicted a “city of music”. They wanted the park to have:
Farmer for birds, Island music, Theater of Opera and Music
Family Center.
But only in January 2004 and began to build this great
construction.
It is located on Professor Fonseca Rodrigues Avenue,
2001, in the west area of the city. It is open for the public. The
entrance is free and the park is only open in the day.
The park was created in 1987, but the building was built in
1989 to provide leisure area, and a green park for the city, so
there were 12000 seeds planted in an area of 120 m2, including
eight species of Ipes 1200, 110 purple and 550 yellow, the tree
that is a symbol of São Paulo.
There you can play sports,
have a picnic and much more. The
park is full of people but the best day
to visit is on Saturdays.

changing, such as the Orchids House which, is being built in
2011.

Villa Lobos Park is a big, beautiful, traditional and woody
area. In the park there are some trees, a bicycle path, a walk
track, and several courts where people play: tennis, basketball,
football and volleyball, there is also a playground and shop
where people can rent: bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards
besides that, there is a snack bar. It is located on Prof. Fonseca
Rodriguez Avenue. It is open for the public and the entrance is
free.
The park was created in 1994 to provide a green area to the
city. There you can play sports, ride a bike, walk your dog, and
many other things, the best days to visit the park are weekends
because there are more people and it’s more fun!

Villa Lobos is a shopping Mall. It is a modern, beautiful, big and
blue building. In the shopping there are many famous shops and
restaurants. There is also a cinema. It is located on 4777, Nações Unidas
avenue, in the west area of the city. It is open for the public. The entrance
is free and it is open from 8am to 12pm.
The mall was created on April 19, 2000 to provide a modern
shopping area for the city and to honor Villa Lobos. There you can buy
clothes, eat in restaurants and go to the movies. The best days to visit are
from Monday to Friday because it is empty.

Benedito Calixto is a square. It is a big and beautiful place and
wooded area. In the square there is a popular open fair and a lot of shops
for fashion and furniture.

Butantã Institute
Butantã institute is a park and a
research enter. It’s big, beautiful
and is
forested. There are 3 museums there:
Microbiology, an
animal
museum and
a
history museum. Close to the microbiology
museum there is a serpentarium and a lot of
research centers. It also has a cultural
center, is a center of basic research and
education.
It was created 1901 to produce
antivenoms by vital Brazil and now a days
it is controlled by bill Melinda foundation.
There you can see snakes and also
take a walk. For the “paulistanos” it means a good place to walk, to show to
tourists and … if a snake bites you, now you know where you have to go!

Luz Station is a subway station. It´s a big, beautiful, white and yellow
building. In the station there´s a famous subway and stores. There´s also The
Portuguese Language Museum. It´s located downtown in the center area of the
city. It´s open for the public. The entrance is free and it´s open for 24 hours.
The station was created and built in 1867 to provide the city with more means
of transportation. There you can see expositions and the best time to visit the
station is in the afternoon because there aren´t many people.

The Luz Station
The “Luz Station” is a station train. It’s a beautiful and beige building,
there is an important museum called “Museum of the Portuguese Language”. It
is located on Luz square in the center area of the city by tube and it is open for
the public. The train station is free, open for all, but the museum is paid.
The station was created in 1867 to provide a coffee route from Santos to
Jundiaí and from there you can move around through the city, or stay and see
the museum. The best days to visit the museum are in the weekend, because
it is empty.

Morumbi Stadium
Morumbi is the name of a soccer stadium in São
Paulo. It is the 3rd biggest stadium in Brazil. The Morumbi
stadium was build for the famous soccer team São Paulo.
In this place there are many facilities such as training
areas, shops, book stores and restaurants. It is located in
São Paulo city at Praça Roberto Gomes 1, Morumbi.
Morumbi stadium is also called Cicero Pompeu de
Toledo which was built to host soccer of matches, being
the official stadium of the Brazilian soccer team Sao Paulo
Football Club, having received the Brazilian national team
on several occasions.
The stadium was designed by Villanova Artigas from
1962 and was inaugarated in 1970.
There you can watch soccer games and music
concert´s, the most famous concerts in Morumbi were
Iron Maiden´s, Metallica´s and U2 360°´s.

Pacaembu is big stadium of soccer. In the stadium there are
lots of important matches. There is also a museum called “Museu do
Futebol”. It is located on Charles Miller square, and the entrance
varies from R$20 to R$200. It holds 37,952 persons. The first match
was “Palestra Italia versus Curitiba” and Palestra beat the Curitiba:6
vs 2 and the first goal was scored scored by Zequinha from Curitiba.
The stadium was created in 1927, but it was built on 19/7/1938
to provide a stadium for the 1950 cup. The best day to visit is a
match day, because you can see the Brazilian players playing
soccer.

Oscar Freire is a very famous street. It is a big, beautiful and

brand clothes, sun glasses, brand bags…
This place is really important to the
people that live in São Paulo, because it
represents a commercial center where people
can have fun and entertainment.
This name was given to the street in honor to a doctor named
Oscar Freire de Carvalho. He was an important doctor
and teacher, and he introduced the medical education
in the current USP Medical College.

Paulista is an avenue in São Paulo, Brazil. It is a big, large and important
route for the area that is around it. It is located in the west area of the city. It is

for the coffee trade men, and a business center for the city. There you can
shop, work and eat.

The park was created in 1973 to provide attractions: radical on for

The best days to visit Playcenter are in the weekends because in the
holidays is very expensive and in the weekdays you don’t have fun.

The science station is a big and modern building. In the museum
there are different kinds of exhibitions. There also a computer lab. It
is located on Guaicurus street in the western area of São Paulo. The
people have to pay to enter the station.
The science station was created in the beginning of the 20th century
to house a textile industry for the city. There you can see science
exhibitions. The best days to visit it are weekends, because there
aren’t many people.

The são Paulo zoo
The São Paulo ZOO is beautiful,it was created in 1958 by Mr.
Emilio Varoli. It is located in an area of 824529 m2 in
Jabaquara district,
Avenue Miguel Stéfano, 4241- SP, Operating schedule 9:00
to 17:00.
The zoo is important for São Paulo citizens and also for the
Brazilians because it’s a great research center, it has a great
animal diversity and is visited by many people from different
nations around the world and has activities for all age groups.
The animals housed at the zoo were saved from smuggling and
circuses, that the abused.

The São Paulo Zoo is a great place for kids. It is a big
and beautiful area. There are popular animals and a shop.
There is also a restaurant. It is located on Miguel Stefano

kids, and it is open from 9:00 AM to 17:00 PM.
The Zoo was created in 1958 to provide a great visit
and a good place for the city. There you can see beautiful
animals.
The best days to visit the Zoo are from Tuesday to
Sunday, because on Mondays the Zoo is not open.

The “Simba Safari” is a zoo. It is a big and beautiful area. It
is a different zoo, because in the place there are monkeys, lions,
giraffes and etc. It is located on Cursino Street, 6338 in São
Paulo, in the south area of the city, it is open for the public. The
entrance is R$ 12, 00 and R$7, 50 for students, and it is open
from 9 am to 5 pm.
The “Simba Safari” was created in 1971/1972 to provide a
study for different animals, and a cultural center for the city.
There you can see foreigner animals. The best day to visit is a day
with sun, because the animals interact with people.
