Michael Beutler, Simone Decker, Ann Veronica Janssens, Zilvinas Kempinas, Peter Kogler, Vincent Lamouroux, Raffaella Spagna e Andrea Caretto foram os artistas convidados pelo Mudam Luxembourg para esta
exposição colectiva, onde cada participação funciona como um esboço, que de forma peculiar contribui para
uma nova percepção do museu. Graças à diversidade de perspectivas sobre a noção de espaço, as instalações pretendem exercer uma intervenção física na própria arquitectura provocando gestos de construção e
desconstrução numa experiência desorientadora para o espectador.

Michael Beutler, Simone Decker, Ann Veronica Janssens, Zilvinas Kempinas, Peter Kogler, Vincent Lamouroux,
Raffaella Spagna and Andrea Caretto are the artists invited by Mudam Luxembourg for this collective exhibition, where each participation works almost like a sketch which, in its particular way, contributes to a new
perception of the museum. Thanks to the diversity of perspectives of the notion of space, the installations
seek to create the impact of a physical intervention involving the architecture itself, provoking gestures of
construction and deconstruction in a disorienting experience for the spectator.

Depois das exposições individuais realizadas na galeria Arthobler de Lisboa e no Museu da Horta no Faial,
‘Europa’, a última série de trabalhos de Carlos No será agora apresentada na galeria Candyland, em Estocolmo,
juntamente com algumas criações inéditas. Com uma abordagem claramente intervencionista, o artista plástico alerta para a questão dos imigrantes que chegam à Europa em busca de melhores condições de vida e aí
se deparam com a face xenófoba e segregacionista do velho continente.Território e fronteira são os conceitos
explorados nas irónicas esculturas resultado da apropriação de sinalética rodoviária.

After his individual exhibitions held at the Arthobler gallery in Lisbon and at Museu da Horta in Faial, ‘Europa’,
the latest series of work by Carlos No will now be displayed at the Candyland gallery in Stockholm, together
with some brand new creations. With his unmistakeably interventionist approach, the plastic artist raises our
awareness of the issue of immigrants who arrive in Europe in search of a better standard of living and who
then come face to face with the xenophobic and segregational side of the old continent. Territory and frontier
are the concepts explored through the ironic sculptures created from the appropriation of road signs.

‘Permanent Mimesis’ reúne um grupo de 13 nomes representativos da nova geração de artistas europeus,
americanos e asiáticos, que exploram o paradoxo das imagens enquanto construção ilusória. Apesar de recorrerem a técnicas analógicas e suportes mais tradicionais como a pintura, a escultura e o desenho, os vários
artistas utilizam as imagens digitais como forma de denunciar a ambiguidade patente no processo de produção
de uma ilusão, na qual nos revemos ainda que conscientes da sua evidente artificialidade.

‘Permanent Mimesis’ gathers together a group of 13 names that represent the new generation of European,
American and Asian artists, who explore the paradox of images as an illusory construction. Despite resorting
to analogical techniques and more traditional media such as painting, sculpture and drawing, the different
artists use digital images as a way of denouncing the ambiguity to be found in the production process of an
illusion, which we identify with despite being aware of its apparent artificiality.

Utilizando polaróides ampliadas como principal suporte, André Gomes começa por expor na década de 70
apresentando um trabalho de carácter instalativo, através do qual explora a relação da fotografia com a
literatura e a teatralidade. Depois da exposição individual ‘Era na velha casa…’ no Museu da Electricidade, em
2008, série nomeada para o prémio BES Photo desse ano, a galeria Baginski exibe na Sala 53 algumas das suas
criações mais recentes. Painéis fotográficos em sequência evidenciam o carácter narrativo de composições
abstractas mergulhadas em jogos de cor e luz.

Using amplified Polaroid’s as his main medium, André Gomes began by exhibiting in the 70s, offering work
with the characteristics of installations, through which he explored the relationship between photography,
literature and theatricality. After the individual exhibition with the series ‘Era na velha casa…’ in the Museum of
Electricity, in 2008, nominated for the BES Photo prize that year, the Baginski gallery is now exhibiting, in Sala
53, some of his most recent creations. Sequences of photographic panels reveal the narrative character of
abstract compositions submerged in games of colour and light.
