Peter Serge Butko
Peter Serge Butko, nascido em 1970, é um artista eslovaco de origem
cigana que vive actualmente em Praga (República Checa). Envolveu-se
na actividade teatral desde cedo, vindo mais tarde a formar a sua
própria companhia, que usava a estética do teatro de luz negra.
Em 1990 Serge tornou-se membro do teatro de marionetas de Nitra,
entidade bem conhecida pelo desenvolvimento da técnica denominada
“sistema Romanovsky”. Foi neste teatro que desenvolveu a técnica de
manejar marionetas que mais tarde viria a aprofundar.
Em 1992 deixou a representação para se dedicar ao estudo da arte
dramática na Academia de Música e Artes Dramáticas Janacek, em Brno,
na República Checa, onde foi aluno de Peter Scherhaufer. Após acabar os
estudos juntou-se ao teatro Rokoko, de Praga. Actualmente, continua a
aperfeiçoar as técnicas de movimento dramático e estudo da vida
interior das marionetas.
Peter Serge Butko
Peter Serge Butko, né en 1970, est un artiste tchécoslovaque d´origine
tzigane qui vit actuellement à Prague (République tchèque). Il s´est
consacré très tôt à l´activité théâtrale et a formé un peu plus tard sa
propre compagnie, qui utilisait l´esthétique de la lumière noire.
En 1990, Serge Butko est devenu membre du théâtre de marionnettes
de Nitra, entité bien connue pour le développement de la technique
dénommée “système Romanovsky”. C´est là lá qu´il a développé sa
technique de manipulation des marionnettes qu´il allait approfondir plus
tard.
En 1992, il a laissé les représentations pour se consacrer à des études
d´art dramatique à l´Academie de Musique et d´Arts Dramatiques
Janacek, à Brno, en République tchèque, où il fut élève de Peter
Scherhaufer. Après avoir achevé ses études, il rejoint le théâtre Rokoko,
de Prague. Actuellement, il continue à se perfectionner dans la technique
du mouvement dramatique et l´étude de la vie intérieure des
marionnettes.

Peter Serge Butko, born in 1970, is a Slovak artist of gipsy ascendancy
that currently lives in Prague (Czech Republic). He became involved in
theatrical activity at an early age, and later formed his own company,
which used the aesthetic of the black light theatre.
In 1990 Serge became a member of the Nitra puppet theatre, entity well
known for the development of the technique called “Romanovsky
system”. It was in this theatre that he developed the technique of
handling puppets that he later would deepen.
In 1992 he quit performing in order to dedicate himself to the study of
dramatic arts in the Janacek Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, in Brno,
in the Czech Republic, where he was Peter Scherhaufer’s student. After he
finished his studies he joined the Rokoko theatre, from Prague. Today, he
continues to develop the techniques of dramatic movement and the study
of the interior life of puppets.

Romances Ciganos é um
espectáculo marginal pleno de
imaginação, baseado em temas
fortes do folclore cigano eslavo e
mitos de Máximo Gorky.
O espectáculo consiste numa
sequência de trechos coreografados
e comoventes, nos quais lindíssimos
fantoches antigos são manipulados
de forma invulgar.
Constrói-se uma história fantástica
a partir das visões e experiências
do amor, da fatalidade, e do
sofrimento humanos, bem como do
eterno desejo de felicidade.
O poder visual é enriquecido com
música clássica, bem como canções
ciganas interpretadas pela
conceituada cantora Ida Kelarova.
Romances gitanes est un spectacle
marginal plein d´imagination, et basé
sur les thèmes forts du folklore gitan
slave et sur les mythes de Maxime
Gorki.
Le spectacle consiste en une
séquence de morceaux chorégraphiés
et émouvants, dans lesquels des
magnifiques marionnettes anciennes
sont manipulées de façon peu
commune.
Il s´élabore une histoire fantastique à
partir de la vision et des expériences
de l´amour, de la fatalité et de la
souffrance humaine tout comme de
l´éternelle aspiration au bonheur.
Cette puissance visuelle est enrichie
par de la musique classique et par des
chansons tsiganes interprétée par la
célèbre chanteuse Ida Kelarova

show full of imagination, based in
themes from the Slavic gipsy
folklore and myths by Maxim
Gorky.
The show consists of a sequence
of moving choreographed pieces,
in which beautiful old puppets are
handled in an unusual way.
A fantastic story is built from
visions and experiences of love,
from fatality, and from human
suffering, as well as from the
eternal wish for happiness. The
visual power is strengthened by
classical music, as well as gipsy
songs interpreted by the
renowned singer Ida Kelarova.
