The Royal Road
A trip though history and culture, with charm and comfort.
A 6 days trip visiting historical towns of the Royal Road, protected by IPHAN (National Historical Heritage Authority).
Some of those also declared as World Heritage by Unesco.
1st day - Rio/Petrópolis
Departure in the morning towards Petrópolis “The Imperial City”. Arrival and visit to the
Imperial Museum. Lunch in Leopoldina restaurant in Solar do Imperio hotel.
After lunch, a carriage tour by the historical center of Petrópolis, stopping at Catedral São
Pedro de Alcântara (São Pedro de Alcântara Cathedral), and, Palácio de Cristal (Crystal
Palace) and Casa de Santos Dumont (Santos Dumont house).
After the tour, accommodation at the Charming Solar do Imperio Hotel. Dinner at Majórica restaurant or similar
2nd day - Petrópolis/Juiz de Fora/Tiradentes
Breakfast. Departure towards Tiradentes. Stop for lunch at Wood House Restaurant in Juiz
de Fora. Arrival at Tiradentes, one of the smallest and best preserved cities in the historical
circuit of Minas Gerais, part of the National Historical Heritage. Afternoon tea and and
accommodation at Solar da Ponte Hotel. Dinner at Atrás da Matriz...
3rd day - Tiradentes/São João Del Rei/Tiradentes
Breakfast. Visit to the main touristic and historical spots of the city: Chafariz de São José
(São José fountain), Museu de Arte Sacra (Sacred Art Museu), Padre Toledo’s house e Matriz
de Santo Antonio (Santo Antonio mother church).
Then, a bucolic trip in the Maria Fumaça Train up to São João del Rei. Lunch at Villeiros
Restaurant and visit to the main historical spots: Igreja de São Francisco de Assis (Sâo
Francisco de Assis Church), Catedral N. Sra. do Pilar (N. Sra do Pilar Cathedral), Historical
center and The Railway Museum.
the end of the day return to Tiradentes. Afternoon tea and time free to walk around the neighborhood and shopping.
Dinner at Theatro da Villa restaurant and Overnight
4th day –Tiradentes/Congonhas/Ouro Preto
Breakfast. Departure to Ouro Preto, passing by Congonhas where we’ll make a quick visit to
Bom Jesus de Matosinhos Sanctuary with the 12 prophets statues and the steps of the
Passion of Christ, masterpieces of the artist Aleijadinho. Arrival at Ouro Preto, declared as
World Heritage by Unesco. In its churches and museums are the masterpieces of both
Aleijadinho and Athayde. Lunch at Casa do Ouvidor Restaurant. Accommodation at
Pousada do Mondego. Visti of some churches: São Francisco de Assis, N. Sra do Pilar and N.
Sra da Conceição Mother Church.
Dinner at Piacere restaurant. Accommodation at Mondego Pousada.
5th day - Ouro Preto/ Mariana/ Ouro Preto
Afterbreakfast departure to the neighbor city Mariana, visiting: Sé Cathedral, São
Francisco church, N. S do Carmo church, Archdiocese museum. Return to Ouro Preto
for lunch at Chafariz Restaurant. Walking tour in Ouro Preto. At night dinner at Taberna
Luxor Restaurant. Overnight
6th dia - Ouro Preto / ...
Breakfast . Return to Belo Horizonte. City tour with lunch and transfer to the airport

This 19th century mansion was transformed into an elegant hotel. The Solar do Império
was built on majestic Koeler Avenue by the coffee Baron João Antonio Passos, whose
neighbors were the Emperor D. Pedro II, Princess Izabel, and the young aviator Santos
